Over 4,000,000 legal ballots for Kamala where illegally thrown out including mine. Mine was thrown out because I changed my name but my social security card which I also had changed was lost in the mail. I still get mail and bills with my dead name and the government continues to consider me as 2 people. It's a bit weird not gonna lie. I get two letters in the mail from social security every month I've contacted the office and corrected them 3 times and they have said the issue doesn't appear to double pay me just consider my dead name as the main person and my new name as a care taker. I was freed by US marshals in a gunfight at the US Mexico border where 2 of my captors where arrested 3 where shot and killed in a gun fight and 3 escaped into the desert. I have seen what horrors humans can do to other humans. I have also found happiness with my partners. I have 3 loving boyfriends. One of whom is trans male. His story is equally as tragic. But being with him and my other two partners and being my authentic self I have found happiness in the darkness. Trump wants to take that way from me. People who argue for the erasure of transpeople want to take that away from me. They will never succeed. If you've read this far I just want to say thank you. Sadly, since he has threatened to de-fund any organisation which recognises trans people, that has potentially dire implications for how older trans people get to live their lives. Suppose a trans person is denied housing, for example, and a human rights organisation or law firm takes up their case? Or what if someone working for a healthcare provider, or health insurer routinely turns trans people away for general or emergency care and the company wants to discipline that person?

The same holds true for sports. SPorts has never been segragated by gender identity. It was always segregated by what is nowadays increasingly called sex. And yet, over the past ten years, we have seen an increasing number of males enter professional contests, up to and including the olympic games, previously reserved for females. This particular order by Donald Trump was necessary, because it finally removes ambiguity from the topic and creates cold, hard definitions. This is necessary for a language to function. Ambiguity is the enemy of precision.

The problem re "outting" will be for those people who have been changed for many years, did all sorts of work (I'm not that familiar but there are plastic surgeries, etc), you cannot tell they changed. They have never told their employer or church. Never yelled at anyone about their pronouns and don't look like the crazy guy with facial stubble and a dress. Those are the people that are going to have problems-employment, etc. and they can't change back-don't know how they can safely go through some airports either. Remember, you have to fill out paperwork on your right to work in the US for legit jobs-there is an I-9 and the passport is listed there. You are right like98% of the time. Let me give you an example where that doesn't work. There are boys who are born as XY (correct chromosomes) but have something called Androgen Insensitivity Syndrome. Basically , in development, their body doesn't recognize testosterone so they don't develop what boys typically have. With AIS , for decades now, doctors recommend that the "boys" be raised as "girls" because they don't have a lot of what boys have. The way that Trump worded the order, these people now become boys RETROACTIVELY. The intent and purpose is good -just saying that the order needs some work and consideration. That is one example. There are over 6 million people with some sort of intersex condition like AiS is.

How would you like people to insist on calling you a girl's name, or that you were white? Or who said to your face that Black people don't know what's best for them and so you need life-changing decisions made for you by others who know what would make you happy better than you do? To object to being treated like that would not be oppressing anyone, just speaking up for your own rights, your own dignity. It's when policies give people sudden privilege and status over others based on either an immutable characteristic (such as skin colour) or based on some idea of having a manufactured "gender" or such. Suddenly the basis for modern civilisation (ie. merit) goes out the window and people who have real legitimacy through hard work and ability are left in the cold. How about the many women who have lost sporting records to "men in dresses", not to mention those who have worked hard to build skills only to watch people with far lower capability but with some kind of "oppressed" identity take their jobs?
