When you mentioned how whoever isn't singing is mouthing along, I almost cracked up because Solar just about always sings the entire performance 😆. She brings the mic up for her parts, but in their live performances she's often spotted mouthing everyone's lines. Super cute!

Wheein and Hwasa have been singing together since they were pre-teens. They met at school in Jeonju and against all odds debuted in the same group. 🥰 Their voices fit together in a way that only a close association can create. I just love that! One day I hope they can do a song as a sub-unit because it would be amazing.

The craziest thing about this performance is these aren’t even their songs they’re just covers of older korean songs that they performed on a show called “immortal songs” they just sung them so well that they lowkey became their songs kinda like Jennifer Hudson with “And I Am Telling You” basically anything they sing kinda became like that song for Jennifer in a way

Hwasa's voice is very flexible. She can do low register, high register, her falsetto oh my god it's so beautiful, she can growl, rap. What else? She's my favorite, she's amazing.

The order from left to right is: Moonbyul - Solar - Wheein - Hwasa Most of the time you guys mistook Solar as Moonbyul :( they always keep this order when performing (especially without dancing/just standing and singing performances), and when they're in any shows.

Hwasa singing like she’s speaking is the reason why she’s my favorite. I love singers who sing like that. They’re very easy to listen to and it’s also why I love a lot of oldies. (And yes, she has a natural rasp. That’s actually what she’s known for.)

Actually solar has a really high note but it had been cut😭, and wheein can sing whistle note in a live performance that scared me a lot. They are so amazing that I think they are not only idols but four singers who work harmoniously together.

"Immortal Songs" is a show where each episode features a legend/icon of Korean music (producers, writers, singers, etc). The guests of the show (other singers and artists) are meant to choose a song from that legend, and rearrange it, modernize it (if they want), make it their own, etc. and pay respect to that legend. From early on in their career, Mamamoo were invited on the show. It's a big deal, because they invite serious talent (some legends themselves) to perform/compete. Mamamoo won 3 times (I think?), which is a big deal because (as mentioned above) they were performing with some really great artists. They performed this medley, at their concert, of some of the songs they performed on the show (so these aren’t actually their songs). I think you would really enjoy their performances, but heads up that reactions to the individual performances often get blocked on KZbin. So it might be best to check them out on your own 😁

This performance is like an onion, the more you watch it there will always be new details that you didn't notice before. That's mostly why this is my fav Mamamoo performance of all time, no matter how much i watched it I'll always get blown away just like the first time i saw it cause i kept on noticing new details from each girls' vocals. This was for their 2017 concert, named ‘Mamamoo Concert Moosical: Curtain Call’ they picked their version of the songs they sang during the show "IMMORTAL SONGS", performing an Eleven-Minute long medley in the middle of a Four-Hour long concert. FYI Solar was upset with her last Belt, because she had to stop moving to complete it... Crazy Lady, Love Her LOL

Fun fact: because they are so stable when singing and dancing, some antis said that they’re lip syncing (they never do that, except if there’s some malfunction tech, and they’re really bad at lip syncing only Wheein who got it done well when they first lip syncing 😅) they sometimes cracks their voice or miss their part purposely (Moonbyul once did this, she forgot the whole song, and made some of her parts on the spot) to show that they’re really singing alive 😅

Thanks so much for reacting to this! I'm just sad that you never commented about the actual moonbyul (I'm not sad you got the names wrong, that's normal, but she's a great rapper). She has some singing works that really showcase her abilities as a singer, one of her best singing works is called "Snow", I would really recommend you to listen to it, I'd just say that you should react to the MV, cause the live performance gets blocked a lot. Moonbul is the rapper who occasionally sings. Solar has the biggest voice, and gets the most florid runs. Wheein's belt is second only to Solar, she holds the line when Solar flies off on adlibs or descants. Hwasa is of course the torch singer, breathy light or gritty as needed.

Moonbyul (as the rapper) unfortunately gets seriously underutilized in Immortal Songs arrangements. In the original lives, you can see her standing, practically bored to tears, with no choreo to do while the other three are weaving lovely harmonies...

​@@xheralt I actually thought Moonbyul's rap in original lives was one of the best highlights in those peformances and I thought she also joined some of the low harmonies:) Sometimes I think it is difficult to determine the length of rap in this kind of re-arrangement for old songs as rap is usually very compact and intensive. But I do have the feeling that she could have sung more if she had more confidence back then. However, I notice that she started to sing more in the last few performances in IS2, especially the moment she harmonized with Solar in Purple Scent, in which she sang!!!
