I heard this band for the first time last year when I saw them live. Had never heard of them before and when they played this song I cried. It is so uplifting and triumphant it is now my song to pick myself up when I can't go in and they are one of my favorite bands of all time.

If you listen to the live version, there is a high note buried on the studio version that is astonishingly high. Like she sings it further away from the mic in order to prevent everyones ears and face melting like opening the ark in Indiana Jones

Way behind, but I just found this video. Totally agreed. The crazy thing is I didn't even notice how great it was the first time through. It took until my second or third listen to realize that the musical themes were repeating throughout the album. The most obvious example is between Waking Dream and Afterlife, but it happens other times too. There's even times where it feels like things are being pulled in again from Apex. Instrumentally, I mean. The lyrical content is much more obvious.

My favorite song of all time. These two albums had a massive impact on me, and barely a week goes by where I don't run through them. I always pause for a moment when she says "Could it be I've finally won the war...NOOOW!!" The perfect climax of the battle then switches to such an uplifting solo and I just feel complete. Home, as Chase would say. Thanks for this, cheers!

I am literally typing about the "I see the clouds are gone! The storm that raged is quiet once again!" line as you say, "sounded a little more hopeful, a little more triumphant.....like there's a new energy..." he has literally just won the war..... It just reflects my prior comment so strongly, really shows what masterpiece creations they are capable of.

Hey Chase. This song is one that I have compared to the Matrix movies, in how the Immortal finally faces the demons that he has been dealing with and the doubts he has. Despite this, he finally stands his ground, and takes the fight to the Matriarch -- like Neo finally facing down Smith. One of the best story-driven climactic battles in music I've ever heard. So, so good. And it kind of feels like a D&D battle between a party of characters and the BBEG (Big Bad Evil Guy). Given that Brittney and the band actually had a D&D campaign based on the story between the Immortal and Matriarch, this, IMO, is very fitting. Edit: Chase, I am one of the ones that will stand by and behind the work that reactors do. Most people just look at reaction channels as listening to music, and it is. But it's much more than that. There is a kind of magic that happens when a reactor hears something for the first time, and their reaction is one of pure, unadulterated shock, joy, love, even sadness sometimes. It is a reminder of how human music really is. And, for me, at least, I can honestly say that music reactions is my go-to source for new music. Every band I now listen to, I can honestly say that I found through reaction channels. It has, for me, replaced the idea that I have to rely on a records store or the radio to find new music. I also think that it has been an equalizer of sorts, since on the internet, every band gets its shot -- and if they are excellent at what they do, then they garner the fanbase they deserve. So I guess what I'm saying is, it's thanks to reactors like you, Chase, that I'm thankful for, as a listener, because without you, my friend, I would not be able to enjoy the music I do, simply because I probably would never have discovered it. So thank you for everything you do. It is very much appreciated!

Watching you feels like reliving my own first listen to each track from Unleash The Archers; the energy and sheer childlike glee on your face and in your body language really brings life to how moving these masterpieces are and how I feel when listening to them. Except you actually have the ear and musical knowledge to understand the intricacies of what they're doing to help me reach a new level of appreciation for every single member of Unleash The Archers and how much effort and care they put into their songs. Thank you.

IMMORTAL IS MORE THAN A NAME! THE WIND THAT SHAPES THE LAND Somehow I find myself Standing on the edge of something that I desperately need From this moment I will not be the same No more crying for the things I can't change Here I will put this tale to rest Finish what I started long ago And though it may not be the ending I wish Only victory can bring me home Come I won't wait for long I was never your slave for all eternity And now here we stand face to face Feel the ground Crashing all around Fight to fan the flame Ignite the battle rage Tear the sky Watch the boulders fly As the mountain scape Crumbles in her wake So, you've come to prove yourself Despite the lies you tell You know you won't prevail And I, most powerful of all Have come to see you fall You'll find no mercy here Search within, uncover the will to win Turn against the tide that washes o'er Find the strength to fall and rise again Open up the gates, unleash the force I am the wind that shapes the land Old as time and twice as strong Oceans arise at my command I alone can carry on To break her chains Forward I push on into the storm surrounding me I await her strike Could it be she's reached the pinnacle now? Silence as I stand within the eye In this hurricane of her design And watch as I drain the light from inside Now at last I see what must be done and so I fly Firm within my grasp I hold the spark and shatter it See her eyes go dark Could it be I've finally won the war now? I see the clouds are gone The storm that raged is quiet once again I feel the stars above Shining on the fragments that remain Search within, uncover the will to win Turn against the tide that washes o'er Find the strength to fall and rise again Open up the gates, unleash the force I am the wind that shapes the land Old as time and twice as strong Oceans arise at my command I alone can carry on No What is this I see? Broken before me Once again I pay the price I've nothing without sacrifice

I just realized how awesome this song is…composed? Paced? I don’t know the word. I’ve been listening for a long time and had a revelation. So, if you think in terms of classic story telling, the beginning is the hero (immortal) gearing and psyching himself up for the final battle, the pace picks up which is the montage of the hero and friend marching in to the battle, then it drops to the sinister pace and mood as the hero faces his foe (matriarch) and the battle rages, then it jumps back up to the uplifting pace as the hero comes out victorious and the chorus hits for the second time as he comes to terms with his victory, only for the dust to settle and realize his friend has been fatally wounded in the battle. Kinda neat

I was there for the premier, but I had to rush off to work right after, so I didn't have a chance to leave a comment until now. I gotta hand it to you, this reaction was everything, and more, than what I was expecting! I had come to the conclusion that you had listened to this on your own time, especially since your last UTA reaction was 2 years ago. Like I said in the live chat, I'm really glad that you finally decided to address your UTA deficiency. A daily dose of power metals keeps the psychologist away 🤣 20:25 and 20:40 ish.. When you talk about active listening and how it helps one gain a deeper understanding and appreciation of the music that it truly deserves. It was you that made me do some reading on how we digest music, mainly in 3 different forms. • Passive - background music, attention is focused elsewhere. We hear it, but aren't listening. • Reactive - Focused on the song as a whole. This is how we all enjoy music. We "react" by head nodding/banging, tapping hands/feet, dancing, singing along etc. • Active - In depth analysis. You can enjoy music in this form, and once good at it, one can fuse reactive and active listening together (Like Chase does). But, in the beginning when purposely choosing to listen actively, what I did was not listen to the song for enjoyment. I shut off my reactions and emotions, and solely focused on separate aspects of a song individually, over multiple listens. It helped me hear new things, and get a better understanding of the whys and whens in the composition. Then I'd read lyrics to form a mental image. When I go back to reactive mode, I mesh all the parts together and greatly enjoy the whole on a new level. Like Chase said, it's like having the ability of picking out a single voice in a crowd. I gotta give Chase a huge thanks. I wanted to understand and appreciate music on a new level, and gain the ability to hear new things in songs I've known, but yet he's hearing it on the first listen lol. You motivated me to step up my listening game haha. Your insight is top tier brother! I can understand and relate with you, and why it's something you have deep emotion for. Appreciate everything you do! The same goes for the band as well. Amazing people making amazing music. We all gotta give the respect of proper listening that it deserves, and this extends to all music that we cherish. Respect from Toronto 🤜🤘🇨🇦

Great reaction! Saw in an interview with Tank that this is the band's favorite track off Abyss. Brittney as the Immortal and Grant as the Matriarch. Such a masterpiece. Loved how the music matches the lyrics. When the immortal is in the eye of a hurricane created by the Matriarch the music drops and becomes calm. The hopeful synth part is after the Matriarch is defeated so totally fits and is so, so good.

My favourate UtA song. So much so, that I clipped the part @13:28 for about 40 sec, and have been using it as my ringtone for about a year. I'm glad you were finally able to get to it, because I knew you would love it.

Chase, you have some truly hilarious bits in this commentary(!!;).... I AM, admittedly, a tad biased when you review ANY UTA videos. Your passionate reaction/assessment of this song rivals the very passion you are recognizing WITHIN this song (as with all your reviews;). So Wonderful. You commented that it's like "coming home", and, I'll have to admit that it was a somewhat emotional moment (which is what i saw as you said it), and I for one am grateful to see anyone who appreciates this band as much as I do! Cheers to you, Chase, continued success with your channel, and have a wonderful, safe holiday!

Fantastic as always, and great to see how diverse your reactions are in terms of knowledge and genre! For upcoming suggestions, I'll lay off Shrezzers (for this week anyway!), and I'd like to see you dive a bit more into Dayseeker as well! I'd say Sleeptalk would be a great one, and perhaps Crooked Soul from their last album too. For newer stuff like your Neon Grave reaction, I think you'd really like Without Me also. Looking forward to the next one, keep up the killer content sir!

If you haven't yet, SEE THEM at you earliest convenience. Saw them. Met them. One of my favorite concert experiences ever. I'm 48 if that puts that last claim into perspective.

Dammit, Chase! We were both so eager to get to this song that I forgot to pack a lunch, and you forgot to remind me! Ah, well. Still having a Damn Good Day because one of my favorite reactors of all time shared a reaction to a great song by one of my favorite bands of all time. The unpredictability of the song structure, your comments about the structure, and seeing your hair on camera lead me, by stream-of-consciousness to hear fellow-ginger Julia Nilon repeating these words from her Ghost Love Score reaction: "Come with me, we going on an adventchah!" Haha. Hope your Damn Good Day was even better than mine. Love you, man.

@@ChaseCarneson I get what you mean about it feeling like home ... UtA was one of the bands that helped me get through lockdown... And through reaction channels is where I found them. With you (The Best Reactionist) returning to them, it just gives an emotional feeling to it.. so thank you Chase. Now I'm off to go crank UtA starting with their first Album ... TC and Be safe!!!

I don’t know how you do it.. how do you discover a band like this and not just binge the entire catalogue!! This song hits even harder when you listen to Apex and straight into Abyss, follow along with the story of the immortal and this is the climatic final boss battle!!

Great reaction Chase! this song got me through so many hard times. Have you checked out any of Andy's side stuff, Sleeper Ship? he does a song with Brit called "Ride Away", killer track.

Can’t wait to watch. I do have a suggestion for you Chase. You can never have too much Jinjer in your life. Could you do Vortex - Jinjer?

I concur. But please, it’s Jinjer with two Js. More Jinjer, more UTA, more Nightwish, more everything of the good stuff 😂
