I own a 2021 S. Sling... Manual. Purchased new: Dropped 15k of upgrades... Including exhaust, peddle command, rear window, light pack, much more.. Love this thing...no roof, no helmet in Cali...required here but 🚔 leave me alone. Endless fun, manual and peddle command are a must.

Why are you subconsciously judging the SS like a car? It’s NOT a car dude. It’s completely different and in a class of its own. The transmission lags a bit, but it’s not a 2 wheeler. Judge accordingly. Nice video.

I test drove one of these with a manual trans . Underpowered is an understatement. Considering the price , youre better off getting something else .

100% dead on!! We rented one on the 4th last week up in Blue Ridge, GA. The auto trans just sucks and sounds like you're in a side by side off road uv. The paddle shifters were way better, but I'd like to try a manual. We rode the Cherohala Skyway, hit the Dragon, and then we rode back to Blue Ridge. The worst thing was the heat, no cool seats. We rode the Dragon east to west and we baked on the ride back as there wasn't any decent airflow for your lower body. As far as the price, you're getting close to a Mutistrada Pikes Peak!!! It was fun and my wife loved it, but it's a hard pass for me!! OC

Definitely a fun machine well in a manual. Forget the auto. And the engine in the S and SL is just a detune easy stage 1 tune at the dealer. I have more fun riding mine in shorts flipflops and a ball cap than my R1 it the same outfit. If you're going to gear up you might as well just buy a bike. Its also nice with the wife next to you and not being an anchor on a bike so you can still have fun with a passenger.

I think these come with automated single clutch manual transmissions. Which probably explains why it shifts the way it does.

This transmission is the 5sp manual but they converted it to automatic themselves. They were too proud of this being "their" automatic transmission.

I think it would look and probably work better if it had just one more wheel. That profile shot 7:35 shows the proportions at it's worst. Either one, giant, Donk'd out wheel at the back, or two of the size it has would fix it. If it was like a cheap Ariel, or Mono it would be something. I assumed these depreciate at a rate of "cottage cheese" but golly dang. Lost of 2019s for $14k. Yikes.

I've looked at them while at motorcycle dealers and haven't been really impressed, especially for the price. Like you said, plasticky and the entire interior was black. Very bland. You should check out and drive a Vanderhaul. It's the same concept with the wheels, two in front and one in back. In a Vanderhaul the front wheels drive the vehicle and they have a modern-retro design to them. They are made in Utah, and i had a job lined up with them at one point in early 2020. Then COVID hit and ruined our plans to move to Utah. I would take a Vanderhaul over the Slingshot.

I work in a Polaris dealership, these things are money pits, very unreliable and the quality of materials is cheap economy car territory, and god forbid you ever crash it without insurance, the parts are ridiculously expensive, front bumper alone is around 2k to replace.

A trike is an inferior design in every form and fashion aside from possibly having more traction (depending on the differential). This thing will handle and take corners much, much better than a trike and if you wanted to swing the rear end out to drift, you could do so in a controlled fashion.
