Did a nice job. An "under-the-hood" feature no reviewer has talked about is the built-in timecode for multicam projects. I do use this for all my projects with the QRcontrol app to sync all at the beginning of a shoot. It makes it easy to then sync in post. I also have used a "pre-post" software called Multi-View HD Pro 2, which allows viewing up to 8 simultaneous videos, in sync, in various sizes and on different screens. It's ability to do all this without waiting for rendering or building proxies is pretty amazing.

I’ll probably get the 13 due to GoPro wide selection of accessories and ease of use plus even if you spent 1,000 on go pro plus all lenses and other things it would still be 80% as good as a camera that cost 5x I believe anyways especially if you don’t get the camera settings right which for a newbie will be an extra learning curve. KZbinrs are handing out cameras, all KZbinrs have more or less the same mustr of conclusion. It feels a little bit like GoPro is doing the apple thing. First of all I love that there are new features like the different lenses and fast shutter. But on the other hand it has some big flaws that should've been easy to fix. Besides that I think it's unnecessary to change the design of the battery, so you NEED to buy a completely new one and that it is also stupid to not make the lenses backwards comparable. It's just a software update, but like apple they want you to buy the new one not just the lenses. Also I think the sensor that detects which lens is attached has the potential to kill third party lenses. And important features like lowlight or advanced settings are just not there. It would be such a relief to have the settings the camera is actually capable of on hand in the camera settings like on normal cameras so you don't have to use labs and shit that isn't nearly as convenient. And what kinda pisses me off is that these are all things that could be improved right now even for every previous camera, but they won't do it, because: Money. Of course if these things would be implemented natively less people would buy the new cameras, but GoPros image would be one of a kind. And maybe its not the best idea in terms of innovation to release a new camera every fucking year. I know that it's better in terms of business, I guess that innovation times longer than a year would improve a lot of the problems. But as this doesn't seem to change I think someone else is needed to get not even innovation but improvement on things that are getting better at a far lower pace than necessary.

Does the magnetic mount work with gopro 12?
@ChaseTheSummit2 ай бұрын
Nope but you could probably swap out the base plate with a magnetic version if you can find just that component. IT screws in.

My complaint is, all these KZbinrs showing the "Legit kit" with all the lenses but if you look for it, it's still not available! It was a month ago this video was made, and there is quite a few unboxing videos with this kit including the camera, and all the lenses, but no price, can't even buy the kit if you want to. Obviously I'm not going to buy the camera alone, now that I've seen these videos on the Legit kit. I am tempted to just buy a DJI they wouldn't give a bunch of KZbinrs a kit to show people and it's not available plus Gopro 13 cameras are not backwards compatible with older Gopro camera batteries, and they still haven't fixed the over heating problem, if you don't use external batteries. This company really knows how to piss people off!.... Rant over!

The kit is a promo kit for the media. To my understanding it's not available for purchase.

@@ChaseTheSummit That's exactly what I mean about knowing how to piss people off! Why would they give it to promoters to open on video and not make it available to customers 😒. I am not going to buy a Gopro 13 if I can't buy a Legit kit. Thanks for making the video and your reply. I guess I'm going to wait to see if the 14 will actually solve the real issue before I buy another Gopro anyways.

Do the new ND-filters fit on a hero 12 black?

They fit, but the camera doesn't detect them. So in theory they will work but the camera won't adjust the frame rate to opimize the footage.

Gopro is headed in the wrong direction, we wanted a new 1 inch sensor
@ChaseTheSummit2 ай бұрын
Would love a larger sensor. However, in good light I still think the 5.3K from a GoPro looks nicer than a lot of the competition. But low light could certainly use some improvements!
@fourwheelerjock2 ай бұрын
Overheating still sounds like its a thing. Same sensor, I could care less about the lenses. The only benefit is the SLIGHTLY longer run times. Another swing, Another massive miss from gopro

@ChaseTheSummit Guess we will see. Significantly improved still isnt gone tho lol. With gopro lacking in every other aspect when it comes to specs against its competitors. Gopro really needed to not overheat and a long battery life to keep customers and a bigger sensor really. But it seems to fail on all of that

@@fourwheelerjock GoPro only lags in low light thts it!! Everything is better with 12, i have been using GoPro 12 from 2 months are not a single time this gets shut off randomly, hdr video are dope, even the footage u compare with dji in day time the GoPro is superior be it dynamic range, color etc ppl are crying abt 8k? Where u gonna use it, most of the ppl won't have the resources to edit those massively heavy 8k files, where u gonna see it?? 5k is absolutely the best resolution even if u want to crop the video & zoom in GoPro did good with 13 rather than giving gimmicky features

@Tansixtygp Do you shoot 4K60 for more then 20 minutes straight tho lol. I turn my camera on and don't touch it for 2.5-3 hours straight for shows I film for. Sorry, But everything I have experienced. The 12 over heats around that mark. Specially on hot days in 80+ degree weather

@Tansixtygp Secondly I could care less about 8K or higher resolutions so idk where you got that from. I just want 4k60 without over heating what so ever and a better sensor and longer battery as well.

The footage looks terrible with the ND filter. As I suspected, it messes up the Hypersmooth, so I'm not sure why they're acting like this is so great, lol. There have been ND filters for Gopro's since the Hero 4! But unless the camera is sitting still, there isn't much use for them due to the Hypersmooth not working very well.
@ChaseTheSummit2 ай бұрын
I think some of that was user error. The camera uses an auto cinematic mode to try to smooth out the blur. I'll be doing more testing... stay tuned.
@huntstyle2 ай бұрын
@@ChaseTheSummit Hypersmooth has to have a fast shutter speed to work properly. The way they presented these ND filters I wondered if there was some sort of software work around they had come up with to allow it to still work with a lower shutter speed, but it doesn't look like that's the case. It appears the only unique thing about these filters is the camera's ability to read which filter it is and tell you if you should go darker or lighter. Which is very helpful, as long as you're not using the camera for... well... action.
@ChaseTheSummit2 ай бұрын
@@huntstyle you don’t necessarily want a fast shutter speed for ND filters. The problem they solve is that in direct sunlight the GoPro will crank shutter speed way up to compensate for bright sun which makes footage look jittery. By adding ND you can lower the shutter speed to introduce a bit of motion blur. Yes the camera recognizes this and should adjust accordingly with stabilization.
@huntstyle2 ай бұрын
@@ChaseTheSummit yes I know. I have Polar Pro ND filters for my Hero 9. The problem is that you cannot get to a low enough shutter speed (180 degree shutter) for decent motion blur without causing Hypersmooth to not work. I've tried it. I found that on a bright sunny day I can get away with an ND8, but it really doesn't give any motion blur. Early in the morning, or otherwise lower light, and even the ND8 is too much. Give it a shot, I'm betting it's still the same with the 13.
