The snake represents the people in your life who are truly snakes. They lie low, gain your trust, slowly gain control of you, then turn on you. The song represents every way in which people abuse their power. She used examples of older people who exploit and abuse younger people, but I believe she said the song can be about anyone who has power and abuses it. Any situation, really.

Billie had an emotionaly/mentally abusive relationship relationship in the past. It was with a man that was a small time hip hop artist that goes by the alias “7:Amp.” He treated her like shit and he was dating her when she was uder age. Billie insisted this song was not really about anyone in particular. She said she’s seen a lot of people get taken advantage of by people in power. So she said to just listen to the words and understand them. Another thing. Billie wrote this song herself. She said it’s her favorite song she’s ever written and she’s extremely proud of it.

a man dated her when she was 15/16 and it really damaged her (duh) and yh i really appreciate this song for how it can speak to any victim of abuse/oppression. i cry to this thinking about the way my parents treated me. the snake must represent this person mistreated you with actual power over you for how it can feel like they're strangling you

I agree with that one though the snake but she also feels like she's in a cage so I'm thinking the snake represents restraint and loss of control over your position in the relationship. The snake taking over when she has no control and I think that too tied into the abuse and power parts. It Is subtle and nice till it takes you by the neck.
