I'm for anybody that supports corporation. Working with US based Ford fanatics only further improve things for the average bloke. Instead of blowing money on marginal Windsor based heads from Trick Flow, spend the same or even less money on a Clevor and make 10-15% more power.

Ford or Chevy sounds the same if the cam specs are close or the same, top fuel dragster run a 550CID in a small block configuration or else they would never make 11,000+ HP a BB redlines too Low to make that kinda power, I ran a SBC 350 I went through the trap on the quarter at 9200rpm a big block woulda blown up on me

The big three back and forth is so lame. Most performance heads are hemispherically cut. Don’t be so susceptible to marketing and advertising. Just make your air pump (engine) more powerful and efficient and leave the brand bs out. Attaching yourself to an old design while bashing new developments only hinders progress in our industry.

I would dare say there is less confusion when it comes to Ford. I think too many people want the V8 rumble but can't really afford it. That's why I haven't built any V8 in a long time, I just can't afford it.

@@dj4monie , the distinctive Cleveland V-8 rumble can be obtained with less expensive means than using hardcore race heads. Regardless of the cost, you’ll know it was money well spent every time you hammer the loud pedal and go wide open throttle 👍.

With a tunnel ram and methanol fuel, 1200hp should be possible. Fullboost always does Ford's justice. Higgins, CHI and Kaase, yeah not the cheapest parts but not overtly expensive either. One of these in the back of Pantera would be interesting.

@@aussiesupersnake6642 I think you will find the XE192540 block is not a Nascar block. It was an Australian cast block for light truck duty. It was so sort after only cause of the thicker pan rails, main bulk head and I think it was a stronger iron. Cylinder walls weren't that much thicker but definetley was a stronger block. Definetley not like a aftermarket block like World or Dart.

Micheal These blocks were used in nascar,the yanks ordered so many,i dont exactly how many,and were sold in the Ford Motorsport division in late seventies and early eighties,they were tested in the states and a percentage had core shift and were sent back to Aus and they ended up in F100s,Broncos,LTDS and ESPs and dont know if all falcon xe 5.8 S pacs but i know at least 2 have them and i know a least 2 interceptors[police]have them

@@kyleolin3566 Richard does more LS stuff because he's a low buck guy and so are most of his fan base. He's said several times in his live streams that he's not doing high end, expensive builds because the average guy with kids and mortgage isn't going to spend $10k in hardware and likely doesn't have the knowledge to assemble it himself either. Given all the questions come up in the comments. Richard is also a racer on a beer budget, he's done SCCA World Challenge, Showroom Stock, NASA Touring Car, Bonneville Time Trials and Silver State Challenge with self-built Mustang LX Coupe and Honda Civic Si. He done Engine Masters with a set of CHI heads he knows about Higgins.

@@dj4monie I totally get why Richard does LS stuff. It is cheap, (relatively speaking) easy horsepower in a compact package. You can’t go wrong. I like the low $$$ builds and as I said, am waiting patiently for a Magnum build, or a 400M. And yes, I do know that there is carryover from his information to any build, but I would still love to see some more Mopar, Ford, and other stuff like a Mitsubishi 2.2L. All in all, Richard is a cool guy and is giving us great content for free and that is awesome 😎

Cleveland’s are king! Simple engine for HP as long as you’re running a closed chamber heads. I’m running low 9’s with factory closed chamber iron cylinder heads on a 175 shot. Chris Parker funnel web intake, mechanical roller cam, flat top forged pistons, factory crankshaft. Nothing special!

Exactly. Closed chamber heads are the key. Trying to do it with open chamber heads will lead to frustration. That said if the expectation is about 400 hp, then 2V iron heads are just fine. MPG still makes parts for the Cleveland which help with low speed torque with the 4V Iron heads. Even though Clevors are the base for all Ford NASCAR Cup engines it seems that knowledge doesn't filter down to the masses. In-fact the Panoz GTR used a Roush Clevor; when the point is to make as much power as possible you can't go wrong with a Cleveland or a Clevor including the Boss 302.

@@StainlessTIG2 Power Heads in California been doing Ported 2V Australian Heads with the 2.19, 1.71 Valve sizes for quite a while now, Bought a set off them probably close to 20 years ago, they worked great, my 86 Mustang Cleveland Powered ran quicker with those than Stock 4V Open Chamber and Closed Chamber Heads. Me and my brother Drag Raced Clevelands in our Foxbody Mustangs for years, i moved on to BBF Power and will never look back, Clevelands are great engines, But Big Block Low End Torque they are not, But I'm still holding onto my Freshly Bored.030 over 4 Bolt Cleveland Block, maybe for a Fun Street Cruiser.

@@StainlessTIG2 No, we never had one of those funnel web intakes, if i remember correctly, that was a Very Tall Single Plane, with a Cloverleaf design in the plenum, i remember hearing that they always worked good, my brother and i had a couple different Weiand Intakes, Xcelerator i believe, an older Holley Strip Dominator, and an Offenhauser Intake, we tried different intakes along with different Cyl Heads, 4V, Open and Closed, 2V Australian. My brother ran the Cleveland platform couple years longer than me, i switched up to 429-460 BBF,s. He wanted to put together a stroked Cleveland 393/408 range with the CHI 3V heads, and the Funnel Web intake, But Never happened, he sold Most of his Cleveland Stuff, few years ago, but still holding onto the Headers and Oil Pan for Foxbody Mustang, just in case wants to get back into the Drag Racing, he's still got the car, but the Engine and Trans were Sold.

If a 5.7 liter NASCAR engine makes 850+ hp, one thousand from a 7 liter is very doable. The top end flow would be the key. Would like to see this with less compression and cam but fuel injected.

What are the maintenance requirements like on this engine as far as valvesprings are concerned? How would it go on pump E85 or higher?

I'll assume 100 octane unleaded is the fuel. Maintenance is adjusting the valve lash every so often. Depending how you beat on it, 2-3 seasons out of the short block before you might have a look at the bearings. 2 Steps hammer the bearings and main seal. That said 500-600 hp in a everyday streetcar is pretty fast.

But since 400 plus ci is not allowed by most motorsport categories they are limited to drag racing only. A very small market here an in the US everything seems to be LS as well. Or big block. As someone playing with a Clevo I am limited to 6 litre, as is speedway applications as well. Too big for a Sprintcar also and you would need to develop injection too suit. On a 410 and 8500 rpm they may be good. But hard to sell as the market is Chev based dominated. SO are these any good on a 'normal' 355 clevo or Windsor or a 347? On 100 avgas or E85?

Yes, Higgins offers several port sizes, a smaller package would suit 355 cubes. It depends though the combustion chamber angle isn't like the OE head. That might get you nabbed by the rules makers.

Complete heads are around $12,000 - $13,000 Few people could aford this type of build and as stated, definetly not street car freindly. Its a good build but still doent make as much as a small block ford 358ci nascar HP per ci. This is just a publicity deal and good luck to him as this is what business is all about.

@@michaelk7572 Perhaps re-watch the video champ. We specifically stated this is NOT a street engine. And yes anyone could copy this combo if they wanted to as Nathan said these are conventional heads. Yes its 465ci based off a conventional 351 small block. 👍
