I’ve been an aircraft jet engine mechanic for over 40 years. It is fantastic to see the level of detail you guys put into building car engines. You can always tell an amateur when they do not take the time to assure everything is clean and has a proper fit for longer engine life and no mistakes at high RPM’s.

@@j.e.d.8065 yep, just cause they both have 460ci it doesn't have anything to do with all the other variables. Piston speeds, head flow, intake flow etc. A 385 series I'd guess would out do it and not even break a sweat. Look at the intake port size on the windsor heads. A 385 head, even a c8,c9, or dove head is so much bigger. Let alone a cj head you can shove a tennis ball down. I'd bet a set of good Cleveland heads would work killer on the big inch small block.

@forcedinduction5245
@forcedinduction5245 2 жыл бұрын
There is no intake that will bolt up to a set of Clevor heads that will flow enough to feed 460 inches. Those TFS heads are almost as good as the old Yates C3's and they are way better than those Aussie Clevor heads. The old C3's are not easy to find so I'm assuming that helps the choice to use the TFS. And I think the best heads for the small block ford may be the Kausse heads. I would like to see someone get a set of those on a Dart shp block and make it 408 or so .
@forcedinduction5245

I don't know where you got those numbers from. ? Clevor heads won't flow 400 cfm not never. And I'm not sure that combo will spin enough rpm to make 700hp a 410 or 427 will you will need 7400 to make 700 and I don't know if that 460 combo will spin that high???

Nice Video as always. In my experience, the oil pickup should never contact the bottom the oil pan, which is why it is absolutely critical to get that 3/8" clearance. I go through the trouble of even welding a small washer to the sides of the pickup, sticking down a 1/4 inch just in case the flat bottom oil pan is pushed up by accident.

@Brock Main3 naw dog, they're not good. Popular yes. But it's because they are cheap in all areas, cost, performance, quality. Just because you mass produce turds for X amount of years does not mean it's good. LS lovers need to try learning actual motor mechanics instead of an easy outdated performance. Sure 30yrs ago they were a thing. Now days there are way more engines and way better engines than any LS. You can get way more performance all around if you run a DOHC.
