I had to change my exhuast on my is300 when I had a P0301 code (misfire on 1) many mechanics all offered different fixes but I knew my car and what was necessary to replace. Muffler had never been replaced in the 20 years of the cars life. Had an engine swap/refresh out of a GS from the best Japanese Auto shop in Atlanta with 220k on it so I knew it wasn’t an engine problem. Blew the piston rings on previous motor and had quite a bit of oil run through my exhuast system so there was reason to believe my stock muffler system was likely clogged with dried/burnt oil or Catalytic converter pieces. I live in Florida, so my next project is removing the cats and Sim O2

Interesting, I've seen some clogged cats kill power but never cause a misfire, thing must have been plugged

In depth misfire chase would be cool but if it’s too stressful to work, record, and edit then nah. Literally anything having to do with the 1st gen is300 is enough for my satisfaction tbh.

I'll get one going! I appreciate the input bro! 😎

Before I did the refresh on my 2JZ I was getting an intermittent misfire.. my valve covers were leaking a tad, so I removed the air box and throttle body and cleaned the valley with the plugs, some of the coils were a little wet with oil but after the cleaning the misfires went away.. since then I’ve done the refresh and replace the valve covers and haven’t seen the issue at all.

So true I forgot to mention that! That's usually one of the first things I look for is oil in the valley but hers was completely dry so it confused the hell out of me lol

I need help chasing a "small leak" code p0442 popped up first popped up after replacing valve cover gaskets spark plugs wires, ignition coils. I've replaced about $150 in OEM replacement hoses that were cracked. And now have p0441 im up to a full week before it comes back on after resetting computer by disconnecting battery. I'm in the IE any is300 owners want to give it a look😩

If you can find a friend with a smoke tester that's honestly one of the most useful tools when diagnosing one of these systems. Just stick it in the purge line and it'll show you exactly where your leak is coming from! Here's a link to a relatively inexpensive one if you can't find one to borrow! amzn.to/3HQg412

It’s the gas you can only run expensive gas on those vehicles if not ones the gauge on dash starts to get emty it will start to misfire and wanna shut off ones you start putting expensive gas in it and start running it through the system the misfire should go away
