The part number for the cam seals are 90311-40020 They are both the same seal.

Dude! Your trick using the serpentine belt to get the crank pulley loose just saved me a ton of frustration. I tried the impact, tried heat, tried heat and impact. Nothing was working but this worked so effortlessly. Thanks for this vid.

Same here! Took a little bit of figuring out, with a few tries to get it to lock but I got it. The way it was laid out on the ground for reference was perfect.

Removing the fan assembly gives you so much more room. Just swapped out my alternator a couple days ago! And the cooling fan has to be removed if it makes everything so much easier. I love my 03 IS300 Sport Design and I'll never sell this car. She's been strong as hell! The oil filter is in pain in the azz spot! But this car is amazing! I love it!

I didnt have any leaks on my gs400 until I tried to pop the trans pan a day before work. Was under there for 4 hours and had to call quits cuz all my methods would not crack the 25 year old toyota fipg, now its leaking from where I tried. Its more seeping than it is leaking as the seal didn't budge. I have all the stuff to redo it just not the time. Plus I want to do accumulator shims to firm up shifts and hold a little extra power as Im planning to go 4-500hp so stock trans is still capable but not without light modding.

Great video. If replacing cam seals only can I loosen the timing belt without pulling crank pully. Timing belt was replaced with crank seal already. And again great video with lots of help.👍👍👍

It would be extremely risky to attempt that. You really will need to make sure everything is aligned properly after the belt is lose. There's nothing stopping the belt from coming off the crank gear

Just finished my job and I broke the alternator wire smh, the 2 cam shafts are also spitting out oil, could that just be old residue removing itself? Or am I assed out and got bad ones?

Thanks for this! Was interesting to see the cam seals up close and learn how they seal with pressure. Now i've seen this job done, it doesn't seem so scary lol. How do you know what to torque everything to, e.g. tensioner, vvti gear etc?

Every bolt in the engine has a recommended torque spec. The only things i torque to spec are parts internally, like rotating assembly parts and head studs. The other things have such a low torque spec its more of a snug to preference. The crank bolt is supposed to be a big torque but its only use is holding the harmonic balancer. Tighten as tight as you can and it'll be fine.

Soo both the cams timings has to align up properly but the crankshaft gear timing marking can be slightly off correct ?

Man I just picked up my first Lexus and it’s a is300 I’m gonna be replacing water pump cuz it’s broken but noticed oil leak and grime everywhere but it’s ok got it for a steal someone made it sound like a huge job down at look to bad after watching this video since I’m already bf gonna be in there figured this was the cause of the leak

Needed the refresher course. Have to do the timing belt/water pump on my '05 and I need to knock out EVERYTHING.... THIS HELPED (I WILL END UP WATCHUNG IT TWICE THOUGH, LOL). PLUS, I gotta re uild the VVTI get it ALL DONE in one swoop.... hVent done it since I bought it though I did check the belt recently but the idler pulleys squeekin and the covers are getting hella dirty, and I don't want to lose this SLEEPING MONSTER (which i plan to SUPERCHARGE, YES I LIVE IN CALI😤😤😤).

How did you re torque cam bolts? What did you do to hold it with out removing the valve covers? To re torque?

I hold the gears against themselves using a bolt or something to bind them. Then just tighten them. There's torque specs on ever nut and bolt in a car, but i only torque a select few.

Would you replace the seals even if it's not leaking? I was leaning towards doing my seals even though it's at 110k miles andall seals are bone dry

Hey I’m doing the job right now but I didn’t rotate the engine before pulling the parts is that ok I’m gonna follow your steps on re timing after i install all the new parts, but 2 weeks Pryor I cleaned up and changed the valve cover gaskets along with plugs and coils I don’t wanna touch anything up there but I want to change cam seals how can I take the cam gears off without removing valve covers ?

When doing this can you use the timing marks that are the notch? Not the dot and just clock the vvti gear clockwise til timing mark lines up? Thanks

So after you turned the engine a little, you showed the crank being lined up and said the cam gears were a little off, does that correct itself once you pull the pin for the tensioner? I guess you just did it so fast I didn't quite understand what you did 😅

They're a little off because the cranj gear tab was a hair off. The cam gears are alot bigger so it shows more

I just got an 03 Lexus GS300 Sport design that has a massive oil leak I'm guessing from the front main seal, the P/o had the timing belt done, but not the seals. Any parts you'd recommend for reliability and toughness for the occasional romping?

You did not show how you tightened those 2 cams without holding it into place specially the vvti cam.

Hold the gears by putting a bolt/washer between the gear teeth to lock it. Or remove the covers and you can put a wrench on the hex on the cam itself. That's the proper way to do it.

Then after a while of Turning it by hand it stopped turning all together and the timing is still off

You have to rotate the engine multiple times before the cam gears will align too. If its stopping all together, you either timed it wrong, or you're fighting compression. Make sure if you pulled the cam gears off, that the dowel pins were properly aligned in the gears

@@RabidJz hows it going bro, my car leaking hella bad rn im not sure if its from here or the valve covers. i just ordered hella shit which im not thinking is useless after watching this video. the car just surpassed 112k miles the timing belt hasnt been done before prior my knowledge, i bought the car at 110k and now its leaking baddd. i damn near bought a whole ass water pump timing belt kit, valve covers, intake manifold gaskets, a thermostat, spark plugs lol. the car runs fine its just leaking hella bad, should i return the kit and just buy a timing belt alone, with the 3 seals? please lmk asap bro, im new at this and appreciate any advice

There’s no way the crank gear thing just “comes off” you used something to pry it off and didn’t show it. There’s no way. Am I wrong? You just pulled it off with ease ??

Ohhhhhh yeah sometimes they just come off if they've been off before. I thought you were talking about the balancer.

@@RabidJz I broke one the teeth trying to pry it off. It was not coming off at all. I now need to find a new one lol do you know if they are pricey? Or should I just find one from someone parting out theirs
