My issue is different, but your vid is so good so I watched the whole thing. I was quite surprised to find out that what I thought was the valve cover, is actually a valve cover-cover! And I'm glad you told us about the air heater in there, versus the glow plugs that I assumed we had in our engines. EDIT: The tappet cover gasket was leaking. It took me 35 hours to do the work & it leaked worse when I was done. 8 hours to do the job a second time. It turns out the gasket was installed incorrectly. I flipped the gasket over. Smooth side goes out!

Great content a lot better than a cracked injector cup. Really enjoy the way you just get it done. Years ago I remember building 2x4 frames and covering it all with plastic using a salamander to keep enough heat so your tools didn’t freeze to your hands. Machines tend to breakdown in the places where they are working and to large to get moved in the extreme cold. The North slope was a challenging place to work but now it’s memories of what can be accomplished if you have the will and put forth the effort. 🇺🇸🦅🌏⚓️🇺🇸

I learned a long time ago that the best way to clean your engine inside is to run it with fuel in the oil. I had one that had petrol in the oil and that's highly effective.
@michaelovitch4 жыл бұрын
- The injector was fine, otherwise its cylinder would have low contributed to the engine work,and caused vibrations,irregular idle,stumble -Fuel in oil is generally a problem of lack of sealing on the fuel return part of the injector,the excess flow of fuel is recirculated back the fuel filter or tank ,for cooling, or simply being in excess That could have been way cheaper to solve with a set of seals and O rings. -You can test injectors yourself wth dye penetrant spray ,find cracks if there are any. - Ditch that crappy filter;you need OEM filtation seen the environment you drive in,you will wear out the engine faster otherwise. its surface area is ridiculously small for a so big engine. Moreover you suck hot air from the engine bay,while the stock set up get you cold ,denser air from outside,trough the fender. You need high air density to make torque and power,hot air is no good. -If you want an efficient exhaust set up for a turbo engine,make it the shorter as possible,with the same section as the output turbo flange,not bigger. Bigger is the pipe diameter,the slower you evacuate gases,the more back pressure you get.
@jmuller864 жыл бұрын
I didnt turn in the old injector for the core charge so I can still test/repair it and keep around for a spare. I have never tested them but I want to learn how. Are you saying I could replace an o ring inside of the injector ? what kind of filter should I get for high flow? the stock filter muffles the turbo so much I would pay extra money to have the best filter but still get a nice turbo sound
@iceflameproductionz4 жыл бұрын
@@jmuller86 Hey jesse. see if you can find a parts diagram for the injector itself. I had a similar issue on my tractor, I was getting fuel into the oil (turned out to be bypassing the lift pump diaphragm). Tractor injectors seemed expensive but if its running right turns out you can just change the o ring inside the injector

It looks to me that the electric wires to #1 cylinder injector were going to rub on the on the inside of the valve cover. I would loosen the connection nut on top of injector and rotate the wires a little counterclockwise to take the slack out so they don't touch the inside of the cover and wear through and short with vibration. Diesel engines have a lot of vibration especially at low RPM.

I recently had this problem after replacing my tappet cover after a bad freeze in Texas and I started up my truck and a couple minutes later water like oil was coming out my tappet cover vent tub. So I bought a tappet cover with no vent and added a vent on my timing cover like newer 2nd gens. And same problem. My oil was thin and smelled like diesel. Could my injections be bad or could I have a bad injector tube ? I’m guessing that’s my issue and I’m 100 % sure it’s the only thing that could cause diesel in my oil, I’ve never had this issue until I added a new tappet cover and gasket. Could anything else cause this problem if not an injection or fuel tube to the injector?

The more I see combustion engines being fixed and having fixed them myself, the more i can see why an electric motor would be a lot simpler form of propulsion. Too many moving parts (in combustion engines) and a million bolts in very difficult locations to get to. I do enjoy it though .. but I can see why an electric car is becoming the future.
@Gaunt5963 жыл бұрын
electric just trades all the mechanical complexity, for very complex electronics, that unless you have a lot of training, or an EE degree, your gonna be hard pressed to fix
@oceha28873 жыл бұрын
Hahaha I don't mean to be rude, but kind of as the other commenter said... I don't think you know the meaning of "simpler". Take a quick look at electrical powertrain diagnostic work and you'll see what I mean! Electric cars are awesome and I do agree they are the future but simple... no.
@mchuo78343 жыл бұрын
100%. They can produce more torque than a diesel can, just need to figure out the range issue.
@Re5ist_ance3 жыл бұрын
@@oceha2887 I guess I meant it more from a number of overall parts and number of reasons for a breakdown. These would physically be a lot easier to diagnose with an electric motor. Additionally, due to the fewer moving parts, there'd be less breakdowns. I do agree that it would be extremely difficult to "fix it yourself" - and it would need specialized training or have a qualified place fix it for you. I still do enjoy working on my combustion engine car - however, even those are getting a lot more difficult to work on due the complicated nature of them (the newer engines).
