Holla Jesse how are you doing my friend? Let me ask you a question concerning the AC coupling through the Generator connection? So you said the engineer at Signature Solar told that you can AC coupling through the Generator port. When you do that where is the old inverter get its AC power from? You know the inverter needs power from the utility to produce electricity? So how do the old inverters connect to the utility power from? I hope you understand what I meant.

The leaking part around the 10 minute mark is a regulator. Carefully remove and clean but the sealing faces were a little feral. If you get some very fine sand paper on a sheet of glass, rub the faces till they come clean and even. You could try draw-filing but be careful. When ready to put back together, wash parts dry and use a small smear of gasket silicone on the outer seal surface, now re-clamp parts back together but only nip them up, let it cure for a few hours in warm place then tighten some more, fit and check for leak. If you still have issue, replace the diaphragm.

Good to enclose the compressor. For the compressor, especially if on the inside, you need some kind of insulating pads on the feet or some type of "soft" cushioning on the floor. Makes a big difference noise wise.

How cool to have some historical walls and even an old gravesite. You should clean them up a but and kind of set that area aside from development. I have similar music tastes. Idea for ya... I know it's too late, but just spitballing here: Why not run your domestic hot water supply through the buffer tank instead? Keep your system at 100* when heating, then preheat your water by running it through the heat exchanger on the buffer tank. Now your water heater only has to bring the temperature from 80* up to 110* (guessing here). In the summer your buffer tank will be much colder, but likely still warmer than well water. In this configuration you could run your heat pump at whatever temperature is most efficient, and you wouldn't need an additional pump.
@jmuller86
@jmuller86 4 күн бұрын
I use that buffer tank for cooling in the summer. I have actually been using it for a few weeks now. But also, with what you described, I would need another heat source to heat up the domestic the rest of the way. Right now my geo unit does everything flawlessly

Maybe you can shed some light on this, but I thought that you had to have an outdoor AC disconnect to isolate 'Customer Generation' from the grid while still allowing the grid to supply power to the home loads. I got my 18k mounted yesterday, but after watching this video, I want to get all my ducks counted before I start changing design. My meter is currently outside my garage with no disconnect and I have 2- 200amp panels inside the garage. I have my PV disconnect and RSD mounted outside and I was about to start on my AC disconnect. If I am wrong about the AC disconnect?
@jmuller86
@jmuller86 4 күн бұрын
My meter pan combo has a disconnect out in the driveway so that solves that. Do you have a 400 amp service or just 200 with two 200 amp panels?
@engineerswife
@engineerswife 4 күн бұрын
@@jmuller86 You're right. I forgot you had that disconnect on your combo. Mine is a 400 amp service feeding two 200 amp panels. No main disconnect between the meter and each panel, and each panel has runs straight from the meter. I'll run and check real quick and edit what size wire it is (EDIT: looks to be 3/0 copper and a 2ft run for the 240v mains). But I am thinking that I need to run from a tap on Panel #1 off the meter, through a 200 amp AC disconnect, to the line on the 18k. Then the load would go to a 125amp breaker with interlock on panel #1.
@engineerswife
@engineerswife 3 күн бұрын
@@jmuller86 As I am thinking about this more, my setup would be more along the lines of the 'Partial Home Backup with Supply Side Tap" in the EG4 18k manual. Except that my Critical Loads Panel is just my main panel but interlocked. Pretty similar setup to yours. And like you said there are 100's of ways to do this... lol

well im glad to see you were wearing safety harness and tieing off. yeah we all take risks when we are younger. and when you are at you leisure like after hors thats different. still you should be safe but that structure of safety isnt always there . but in the work place it needs to be there and structured. there would be guys years ago that would take longer nd try to get out of wearing a harness than if they just complied it would have taken minutes and they could have went on their way. but old heads would wait it out and keep the harness close so when the safety guy showed up or their look out yelled they had it wtf????

So your idea is similar to what I need to do at our farm. We have a 200amp meter that is split 3 ways to a house and shop and barn. Normal load is around 4kw with lights on in the building. I was looking into doing 3 6000xp in parallel but the 18000kv might work better. I have 8.4kw of panels, just trying to figure out what inverter to go to.
@mujgy
@mujgy 5 күн бұрын
Ideally I would like to pass the utility power through the inverters at all times so its essentially seamless. I'm in ND and we have terrible net metering policies so have no interest in that and just get some batteries for storage.
@jmuller86
@jmuller86 5 күн бұрын
the 18kpv is nice but you are paying dearly to be able to export. you can get 2 6000xps for a lot less money and have the same output and I think a little more input on the pv side. if you are not exporting then I would hook 2 or 3 of the 6000xp up
