In the short video I visit Croome Court in Worcestershire, UK and get some images as the mid morning sun breaks through the clouds and spills on to the wider landscape of the croome estate whilst illuminating Croome House and the Rotunda against a backdrop of blue and grey clouds. This is also a tale of caution of wanting for more and getting more than you wished for as the clouds thickened and the landscape was plunged into darkness and rain, whilst producing my favorite image from the days photography.
If you like my content please give it a thumbs up and comment, do you like the final dark image as much as me? or is one of the lighter ones your favorite?
As a general update: Hello all and Happy New Year, to all my friends, subscribers, and those people who leave comments on my little corner of KZbin. Despite the struggles of the world I know many of you have managed to still get out and produce some outstanding photography and perhaps in locations and scenes closer to home than you perhaps originally planned :) I thank you for your sharing your photography and videos and I hope you will continue to do so in 2022.
Photography for me has been difficult in 2021. From riding the wave of creativity and ideas of 2020 in to 2021 quickly saw me burnout and crash with the worlds uncertainty. Frustrated with the lack of personal motivation, inspiration and energy, my photography and video output has taken a bit of a dive!
As such I have struggled greatly in trying to keep the photographic flame burning. I think this reflected no more so in the limited number of images I have posted in 2021 and even less videos :( I'm quite sure im not alone in feeling this way too.
Alas it's now the start of 2022, Thank you one all, for the continued support you have shown me throughout 2021! As such I forced myself out of the house armed with a single Vintage SMC Pentax 135mm Prime lens with the hopes of embracing the new year and kick starting my photography and videography mojo I hope you enjoy the ramble and results.
Until the next video, take care all
Geoff.

Nice to see you back out mate, sounds like it's just what the doctor ordered. I've got 3 vintage 135mm K mount lenses all third party but very nice to have a walk out with, that SMC Pentax you have renders nicely with your K1. Good stuff!

Thanks for the reply Lee and you taking the time to comment its always appreciated. I was pleasantly surprised at just how good this lens paired with the K1 in image quality and feel. I might take it out for another spin this time focusing (mind the pun) on closer up work. Looking forward to your next video.

Thank you. Pleased to read you enjoyed my mad ramblings - the final image and getting it was great fun, everything was streaming with rain water. Was great to be outdoors again but it was nice to dry off when I got home.

Thank you Barry. Appreciate you taking the time to comment. Been watching your video on Darwen Tower, and you have reminded me I really must do another video on wild flowers at some point, and secondly I just love discovering tower/monuments and remote building and landmarks. We just don't seem to build them any more. At least some of them are being maintained still.

I rarely do as i'm told, but i couldn't help but 'Like and Subscribe'. Lot's of reasons for that but the tone and tenor of the vid is first and foremost. A sheepish second is that you're shooting with my fave camera and one of my fave lenses - mines the earlier Super-Multi-Coated 2.5, however, rather than the K-Mount SMC. I love Taks on a K-1. Nice images with that lovely restricted pallete and the brooding sky. I'm glad to have found your channel and looking forward to more. All the very best from a cabin in a swamp in a rainforest in New Zealand.

Thank you for taking the time to comment Lurz, its a funny thing but as your comment came in I was just thinking about going out with that very same lens tonight as I hadn't used it in a while to shoot some light trails from passing cars :) I might still do that, may even do a video! Thank you.

@@GeoffMoorePhotography That settles it then - i'll take mine with me to the beach this-evening. It'll be playing second fiddle but, if the clouds are right, it'll see the light. Have a good one. Cheers.

Another well made made video there Geoff. The weather plays havoc with all our plans, and as you are there without the light, it turns into a scouting venture for next time. 135 or 150 mm is a focal length I need to acquire at some point and so it's interesting from that POV as well.
@GeoffMoorePhotography
@GeoffMoorePhotography 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Kevin, 135mm I suppose would be more often used in portraiture, as it offers a lovely subject separation from background at that focal length, so using it for landscape is a little less common as you would normally have a 70-200 with you, rather than a prime 135mm. Still i'm not one for convention and I think you can often find interesting if not sometimes frustrating experiences when using not so perfect tool for the job! :) If you are going to get a 135mm in the future, (I cant offer much in the way of advice for the 150mm) then the Samyang 135mm f/2.0 (which I also have) is phenomenal, however it comes with a word of warning, its so good its verges on being too clinical in its light handling, which for me is a shame as I like lenses with some character... i.e Helios 44-2 58mm springs to mind

It's a nice lens Geoff. I've got one myself, but found it could be quite frustrating on an APSC camera. Good for close up stuff though, funnily enough. It's definitely got a look about it, and has some gorgeous colours. Good to see you out and about at Croome court as well. Keep them coming. 😃

Thanks Neville - Yeah its been in my collection for a couple of years and I think that's only the 4th or 5th time its been on the camera. I do love the rendering of the colours it provides, it has character for sure. I underestimated however just how accurate you have to be with the manual focusing of it. From my first couple of outings I ended up with a lot of missed focus shots and thought it was an issue with the lens, also its infinity point feels as though it needs a few mm more to nail focus. Even in the viewfinder and on the back of live view its off by a bit. However, really studying the images once back at home in detail the focus is spot on and razor sharp if you take time and work the lens carefully. I wonder if thats the same experience for you and yours?

@@GeoffMoorePhotography I can't honestly say Geoff. I'm not sure I would know what I was looking for. I've mainly shot a few flowers and a bit of woodland photography, which was interesting with an APSC crop. I think you are right though. You have to be spot on when you focus manually, and I usually focus check before I pull the trigger.
