Chasing NATIVE BROOK TROUT!! || Fly Fishing Western North Carolina

There is just something special about a native fish. Catching trout is always a good time but it gets a little sweeter when catching wild fish and even more special when you start catching native fish. The difference between Native and Wild Trout is simple. Both Native and Wild fish must be stream born and bred but where they differ is that at some point, the Wild Fish had been stocked years ago meaning that one of their ancestors had been stocked at some point. Rainbows and Browns can only be stocked or wild fish as they are not native to North America. The Trout species Native to the Eastern United States is the Brook Trout!

Like there is only one stream in western North Carolina that looks like this… no name drops, no locations, if someone recognizes it then they already know about it. No spot burning here my friend 🤫

@@CarlileFlynFowl Those are some beautiful little brookies. We have transplant brook trout here in CA up in the higher Sierras lakes and creeks. They been in there for probably more than 100 years now. Always fun to catch. The true natives here are the rainbows and the golden trout, also very pretty fish. BTW I didn't see anything that would give away a location to anyone who didn't already know, even maybe not then. I don't live anywhere near NC so I looked at a map, looks like the western part of the state is covered in little creeks. I imagine they all look pretty similar.
