Amen. Remember the days when my mom would give me $5 to get out of the house for a few hours. Riding my BMX bike to the local convenience store to meet my pals. Buy some comics and a bottle of coke (no cans). Reading the comics with my friends on the curb outside the store. And hitting the local arcade to spend the leftover change. Perfect Days.

I have grown up around the arcade era. The sights, the sounds, the quarters and tokens. Everything that has made what video games are today. I have as always wanted to create a mega arcade, and seeing the past few years that arcade gaming is making a comeback... my dream is a step closer to being realized. Cheers to all my quartermuncher brethren and sisters! Arcades are coming back, baby!

Thanks for showing your collection Jeff! Fellow arcade owner here, I think having a separate air conditioned space is the dream of all of us. I appreciate Jeff's enthusiasm after all of these years collecting. He is right in that keeping every game going can be a bit of a pain, especially as a collection grows to one this large. Jeff's observations about the state of the hobby are spot on. I also have a new PCB solution in my Defender, a 19-in-1; in my case the cab started as empty. Better to be a working game again. He has a nice tidy space here, and that is rare among the community...most of us, myself included, can have a dead game here and there, backup parts in a corner. Perhaps this is a bit of an inspiration to try and clean up things a bit better!
@RetroRalph

OMG tell me about it. I'm always having to shuffle things around to work on games. Sometimes me mess is actually a deterrent to getting a project done or a game fixed. HIs space inspired me to clean up as well. Thanks for taking the time comment and for watching the show!

My uncle was a satellite worker as a repair technician for Sega cabinets from the mid 80's to late 90's. Growing up, we would go over his house and I would see my cousins who were twins. I remember their basement looked like a mini arcade! I always wondered why they had all these Sega councils. Everyone I knew including my other uncles had Nintendo products. Crazy small world huh!

i lived in and around the Columbus area from 84' to 90' and remember all the cicadae bugs and bats too... the bats actually eat the cicadae bugs, and mosquitos, and fire flys (lightning bugs).. you were out in the country a bit, and in the summer, so hopefully you got to see some lightning bugs.... as far as i know, they are not west of the rockies.

I've never been to an arcade convention or an arcade museum, but I visited many arcades back in the '80s and never, ever saw a Baby Pac-Man in person, let alone played one. I'm envious. Space Duel was and is an underappreciated game. You'd think a multiplayer, color version of Asteroids would have been more popular. That was one of the few arcade games I got my dad to play with me, so maybe I just have a soft spot for that one. There was a brief shot of Assault in the video. I'd almost forgotten that game existed! That was a good late '80s game. I remember playing Tutankham a few times back in the day. It was hard, but still compelling. I wish I had a tenth of this guy's most impressive collection! I need to win the lottery. :) The vector graphics games are the ones that you just can't replicate perfectly using emulation and modern hardware, and yet they comprise many of my favorites still: Star Wars, Star Trek, Asteroids (Deluxe), Tempest, Omega Race, Space Duel, Star Castle, etc. Sad to hear it's getting tougher to keep those working.

Being I'm only 35 I take for granted how lucky I've been to come across some amazing games back when I was a kid. I totally remember playing a Baby Pac in a Wheat & Rye while waiting for my dinner. Going to Big Lots and playing Final Fight as Haggar while my mom shopped... Playing Cruisin USA, Wrestlefest, Off Road and Tmnt which was later converted to a Simpsons at KOA in Monroe. Gauntlet up in Frankemuth when I was really little. Bucky O'hare in Ceaser Land after Simpsons had seen its run. Playing Turtles in Time at French Town Mall. T2, X-Men 6 player and Area 51 along with Silent Scope at Tilt &Tumbles in Southland Mall before they folded up. And then years later being 18 and finally coming across an Avengers cab which had been an all time favorite on Genesis for years leading up to playing that. The icing on the cake was probably hitting Disney Quest and getting to experience games like Tron, Star Wars and Dragon's Lair in the retro section which I had never seen before. The list goes on and on, I've truly been blessed when it comes to gaming, there probably aren't many gems that haven't crossed my path at one point and the funny part is that I wasn't old enough to have been in on the arcade scene in the 80's

I know you like input so this is mine….I feel you could add more to the show by maybe showing a little of the planning or the buildup of who,where,what…I feel that will also help others who may not know who you are…..get a better vibe of your passion/drive…and also give a point A to point B workup….I would say don’t rush it and keep doing what you do……I was also a fan of Arcade Pickers and still am (to bad that didn’t work out) is what it is …. That was really cool to see. Back in ‘97 I saw a Tron cab in an arcade in San Francisco for sale for two hundred bucks! Game worked fine but the cabinet needed some love. I wished I could have gotten it as Tron is one of my dream machines. But alas I was working for the circus and I lived on a train. And it would have cost more to ship it home. But hopefully the rumors about Arcade1Up coming out with a Tron cab soon are true!

Great video Ralph, I am so happy you got into actual arcade machines and not just the arcade 1up crap. Although I love my 1ups there is nothing like playing the real thing.

Ralph you guys did an amazing job with this episode. I'm actually excited to see the next one. This brings a fresh touch to the hobby and a different approach to what is out there on KZbin. It was fun hearing the background on these collectors. I think he hit it on the head with how things have changed in the last 10 years. Prices have definitely gone up. I remember being about to buy a Qbert for $200. LOL Anyway, keep up the great work. Looking forward to the next one.

So… this was very impressive. The production was much higher than the average “KZbin show”, it felt decently professional, felt really passion-driven, and I think it just watched really well as a way to see someone’s arcade collection, and that’s really cool and unique. Great start! I also think the little small things like snack break and tiny little segments help break up a long episode, without being too distracting or annoying. They were concise and helped break up the monotony, so good stuff!

‪This was so great. Pickers was a foul ball, but this was a home run. The heart and honesty in your love and respect for the games really carried things well, and it seemed produced but not over-produced. Congrats!‬

Thanks bud, we tried to keep it as natural as possible. We had little to no scripting on this show outside of the basic concept for each segment and we let it go in whatever direction it would naturally. Thanks for noticing this, it was important for us to feel it captured the organic interaction. You rock! Thanks again!

A few years ago I was working on this restoration job at an old shopping center. Well a water line busted and we had to clear out the entire HUGE basement. In one of the rooms there was a Donkey Kong cab. It had no damage from the water and so I asked to owner if I could test it out. It worked!! He said he had it sence it launched. So everything was original. I asked if he would sell it to me. He said its yours for $250.00. The next day I came back with a truck and cash in hand. Someone over heard us talking and he want and offered and paid him $1500. I was bummed!😭
