Chasing Snapper with soft - plastics (catch & clean)

Ahoy Fisho's! This week I head out with a plan of soft-baiting a few reef fish and then finish off the session casting for pelagics. With a few packets of brand new plastics to try out, I headed out on dawn and it isn't long before the bites start coming! Once the reef fish shut down I changed up my gear a little bit to see if I could find a few pelagics to get some reels screaming!

We got seano and the phantom on board with us with the wet weather gear on and sporting some of the new merch . we call those Porgies or scup on the east coast US ... we usually catch them on bits of clam. Decent eating but not my favorite. thats a good porgy tho!

I like longer rods too. The standard Salmon/Steelhead rod for rivers on the west coast USA is 8'6". I like that length but I have had rods up to 10' which like you say casts farther, and the action wears the fish out faster as well.

Easy to catch Snapper on Plastics, it’s all I’ve ever used, just gotta have the GPS MARKS, like all fishing, If the fish are there, most will hook up! It’s just finding them! Would love to know more spots, but like always, fishos protect their marks!
