Monster wahoo landed + slow jigging reef fish!

Ahoy legends, in this episode we finally see the wind drop out for the day so Shauno and I took full advantage and snuck out for an offshore mission. Our plans were to do some jigging for reef fish on dawn followed by putting the lures out and trying to find some pelagics as well. Needless to say it isn't long before we great stuck into some cracking fish on both techniques!

The missus and I were inspired by yours and Shauno’s wahoo and despite a marginal forecast we made the 70km run to warm waters off of Cape Lookout North Carolina. The ride was so rough, several bolts in the hull sheared off and along with the washers (still not 100% certain where they came from) and two rods banged out of the holders and into each other breaking the tip guide. Ten minutes after lines in we had our first strikes - both fish ran across adjacent lines and tangled up the whole spread. While untangling, one line with huge knots and twists was left behind the boat to keep it clear and somehow we ended up landing a decent wahoo just reeling the knots into the reel. Shortly after, I noticed that my reel with a DTX Minnow 220 had the clicker turned off and the only thing keeping the line on the reel was the knot on the peg in the spool. So I had about 800M of line out to the DTX. Took me about 30 mins to reel that in. After getting the DTX in, I started resetting the lines and noticed a blueish purple colored “skirt” similar to what I had on one line was caught up in the current between my two engines. Well I didn’t want any line that was attached to the “skirt” to get caught in my prop so I reached in to grab it. The “skirt” turned out to be a Portuguese man o war and it set my hand on fire for about five hours, including the 2.5 hour bumpy as hell ride in. Sorry for XL comment but thought you might appreciate a fishing tale that shows things can always get worse.
