Misty morning according to the weather forecast. Me out and about to shoot the mist and hopefully get some images with a moody and misty look. Photography vlog September 2021.

Beautiful Morning and loved the video taken while riding your bike! Be careful Frederik! LOL @02:03! Yeah, I don’t know what that was either?! 🤔😳🙄😂 That really is quite a place! Those still water reflections were incredible! That is the thing I struggle with most every time Frederik ; trying to capture / recreate what the eye sees. I think almost every honest photographer would admit the same. Even the best cameras with great sensors and the best glass will still fall short. They just don’t ‘see’ the same dynamic range the human eye can. So we do our best, and hope for the best. Please take care and stay Safe and Healthy! Best to you my friend! 👍👍👍👍👍✌🏻😀🇩🇰🇺🇸📷

Thank you George! Very kind of you! I've heard that if you a hand over one of your eyes, you are closer to seeing a scene the way your camera sees it! I always forget to do so, but the few times I've tried it worked ok! All the best!

Really enjoyed this video. I agree, it is not easy to express with our cameras what we really see and feel. That is the challenge for us still photographers - how to convey a three dimensional world and render it successfully into a two dimensional image. I have come to the conclusion, that on our best days we can sometimes rise to the level of expression on what amounts to an unnatural way of looking at the world with a one eyed lens. Your images are quite expressive, so keep on going! I came here from watching your leaking FTZ adapter video. I am impressed and will follow your channel. Good luck and keep on exploring. PS- try some ICM. That kind of light and subject matter is really suited for it.

Thank a lot JMR! And welcome to the channel! I hope to do more stuff like the VLOG #4 in the future; right now it is January and wet/dark here in Denmark, so I am waiting for a bit better weather. Yes, ICM is one of my favorite. If you want to see how I am doing, I have collected a few ICM's over at Flickr: flic.kr/s/aHsmW69oj9 - All the best!

Thank you for your kind words! Will make more videos "out and about", but right now it is just grey and constantly raining, so I will have to wait for the weather to be just a bit better!

Frederick Try a longer lens at its widest, or close to widest, aperture focused forward of the camera so that the focal point is at least a third of the way to infinity. Those kind of shots give that "3D" separation, to me at least. I've done that with my old 80-200 using 135-150 mm on my 750 with the focal point about 30-50 meters away. Not too "tele" and not too "normal".

Thank you James, will definitely give that a try!

Are you referring to ‘hyper focal distance, James? This does work some times, but like I said in my comment, it’s almost impossible sometimes to capture what our eyes see. Happy Shooting! 👍

@@georgedavall9449 George, not so much hyper focal distance but just something I do to create a certain look that I like. I decide on my subject and move so that when I focus onto the subject it's a quarter to a third between me and infinity, shoot as open as possible and in field of view two to three times "normal" lens view. Shoot it some and see how it works for you.

@@jamesoliver6625 Hi James, I understand better now based on your reply, and thanks for replying. I have shot very similar to what you are saying, and I think everyone should just ‘slow down’ in this digital age, and really take the time to visualize the image, and experiment with different focal lengths, apertures, point of focus, etc. It’s too easy for all of us to just fire away, and not actually get really involved in the photo/ scene. I hope I’m explaining myself adequately. Take care James! Best! 👍✌🏻📷

Hi Frederik, I can see you take a lot of pictures with lakes and streams so I wonder if you have ever tried using a circular polarizer?

Hi Michael, thank you for your question! I have not, yet, but will give it a try as many mention it as a must have for landscape photography. It is my impression that a CPL creates clarity and sharpness when it comes to reflections and water/mist/fog, and I like the opposite, i.e. that the image hides things from the viewer to spark interest and leave something for the imagination to fill out. But sometimes a CPL can help create a stunning sky in a long exposure or make reflections in a puddle go away to leave a surreal clarity, so I definitely think that a CPL is a good tool when you carefully select the scenes in which you want to use it. All the best!
