Deon Fourie's mother was my son's gimnastics coach. She helped him win 1st place at the SA schools championship. If you meet his mother you will understand so much about the man. She is a wonderful, strong woman that instilled discipline and selfrespect in everything she taught the children. I hope you fall in love with our wonderful country because it IS something special. I also hope you will have time to sit around a bushveld fire and look up at the southern cross. If you want an opportunity to go hunting (on the house) we live about an hour and a half from Pretoria between Brits and Tabazimbi and can arrange something for you because I love your channel and never miss and episode.

Gutted I can’t watch this here in Ireland. The Springboks resilience in the face of all challenges in that World Cup really impressed. Things I thought couldn’t work, worked. Players I thought were too old outperformed their younger counterparts. Tactics I thought limited we so nuanced. The most exiting and best games of RWC involved mine and their teams. World champs v Number 1 in world. Even now I’m salivating at the thought of the June tests. Back to back world champs and number 1 in world v 6 Nations champs and number 2 in world. The rivalry developing between Ireland and South Africa can’t be overhyped enough. It’s definitely one Rasi wants to put rest and but one we’ll want to continue.

NOTHING has encapsulated the dawn of Nelson Mandela 's South Africa, as much as our rugby has. The love, joy, laughter, and sharing of a common goal join South Africa on a level that must be seen and experienced to believe. Tim, your commentary on this South African film effort is so refreshing, compared to some UK journalism last year around the "Kant" episode. Imagine a journalist actually trying to understand what makes South Africans tick, warts and all, bloody history and all! Priceless! I had to leave the "cry the beloved country" 22 years ago for survival reasons, but I'm so excited for you to go and meet the "salt of the earth" people there from all ethnicities, you will return richer in your soul. If only, if only, the story of the 'Boks and their teamwork to success can be cloned for all areas of life in dear old RSA. Thanks, "Boet". (Afrikaans for Brother -my honourary title for you)
@kurukoei7 ай бұрын
Just a pronunciation tip Tim, Boet sounds like Boot, but you have to say it quick, quicker than you think. We also use the word "lekke" which you can use to describe anything nice/pleasant. Pronunciation, lacquer. The food is "lekke". The beer is "lekke". Did you enjoy the rugby? It was "lekke".

I am a South African, and Springbok supporter, needless to say. There are two rugby podcasts I follow all the time and, believe me, I checked out all of them since before the WC. Eggchasers is one of them. Your coverage of the WC was brilliant, and I agreed with probably everything you had to say. I vividly recall your feelings and words (even though the game left one almost speechless) in the stadium after the game against Ireland. So spot-on. Yes, I think it was probably the "best" test I have seen. I think "seen" is probably the wrong word; "experienced" is a more appropriate one. Both teams not giving an inch. Incredible. The fact that the Springboks lost is immaterial. My other favourite podcast is Two Cents rugby.

You’re probably right about that as big Jim did say Scotland would beat us in the pool stages. To be honest though, it shows how sad it is as very few commentators are positive towards the springboks and South Africans. It’s really quite sad as I think we are misunderstood - we have a genuine love for our country and passion for rugby that may come across as sanctimonious to some. But it is genuine, and I think it would be so nice to have commentators besides big Jim and eggchasers actually given the boks more credit for what they are doing and the innovation they are contributing to the sport.
