Chasing the sun - Kayaking Ardglass to Tyrella Beach

The weather conspired to give us a day “Sans Cag” as we explored the coast line from Ardglass.
Originally the plan was to go to Tyrella Beach; an iconic Co Down beach synonymous with child hood memories of summer, ice cream and (more often than not) rain.
Harold was keen to relive his childhoods on this beach in the shadow of the Mournes, we just couldn’t fall short.
A long paddle - over 25 km - which is a great training paddle for my future expeds, but was perhaps a paddle too far for beginner expedition Queens, Joy and Sharon. Needless to say, they stayed with it to earn their dinner that evening.
It was awesome to get close to the iconic volcanic rocks of the South Down coast line. Each layer telling a story of volcanic chaos millions of years ago in the forging of these isles. Breathtaking to be able to get this close!
