Fellow young birder here from SoCal! Awesome bird and an excellent video! Luckily I got to see it too (US lifer, I saw them in Costa Rica too)! As this is a mega rarity with uncertainty about how it got here, the video could be even better than it already is by explaining its potential route here. The leading theory is that the bird was ship assisted, as it was seen on a couple occasions at Cabrillo Beach in San Pedro, awfully close to the LA Harbor in Long Beach, one of the busiest, if not the busiest, port on the US west coast. The location of this bird is similar in proximity to the Snowy Owl in LA and Orange counties during the winter of 22-23 (The initial iNaturalist post in San Pedro neighborhood in late November was questioned because the owl was never found, but it was later discovered in Cypress in the opposite direction of the harbor in late December, a bird that got way more attention from the media and local news channels. If only this one did too...). I would not be surprised at all if you already knew this, I just believe it would be an excellent idea to add this sort of information to further enhance your videos. I truly appreciate the work you're doing in bringing the world of birding to the Internet; I wish I had the time and patience to create the content you are making. Hopefully I'll be able to make at least one video someday. Thanks Chris!

Congrats on the lifer! I got my lifer yellow headed caracara, along with a red throated caracara, in South America. Really want to see a crested caracara back in the states.

Good call, guy, to have lunch at Popeye's: It's fried chicken, especially the spicy kind, is delicious. I'm glad the Yellow-Headed Caracara was not on the menu there. 'Tis hard to blame the workers for feeding a stray raptor that is so far from home. Most kind people would do the same.
