June 2020: The summer of lockdown. With so much change in the world, two friends and I set out to get back to basics and enjoy the simpler things in life, such as food, water, sun, fish, and sleep. We decided to head back to the Knife Lake area to explore some old places and some new ones as well. This trip turned into one of my favorites, and it worked perfectly to ease our minds. Though it was only a short time, the effects have been long-lasting.
This is part 2 in the series, where we leave the North Arm of Knife (NAK) and head to Cherry Lake. We knew we weren't going to have the best weather, and we had to delay our departure to wait for the rain to stop. It didn't stop for good... and it made for one of my most memorable days in the Boundary Waters.
Let me know your thoughts, questions, and criticism in the comments! I really do appreciate any and all feedback. Thanks so much for watching!!

Glad to hear it!! Part 3 will show you that portage in some detail. it's a fascinating remote area that I'm glad I got to visit on the way to Lake of the Clouds.

I've been enjoying your videos. Nice work - crappy weather! Well...when you're in the wild you just have to be prepared, right? In August of 2019 we had three days of wind and rain on Ogish. We needed to move on day 4 and had to cross Alpine to Red Rock. No rain but 25-35 mph wind made it pretty treacherous. Even with a plan both boats nearly dumped a couple times.

Thanks Steve!! Sounds like a rough couple days for sure. I can deal with rain, gets annoying when it's days on end, but high winds really limit what you can do in canoe country, as far as day trips and fishing go. We had some high winds on Nina Moose last year which created some pretty formidable waves; thankfully we were able to head directly into the wind so we didn't have to cut into the waves and do any risky turning. Later in this video series you'll see some wind we contend with on SAK though :) Thanks for watching Steve!
