Continuing on from the Red & White Log Cabin Quilt, it's time to add a border. As Jeanette calls it - she chases the borders on the quilt. What do you call it?
Jeanette uses simple maths to figure out the length of the borders she needs for this technique. She simply measures her quilt (28.5" square), then adds the width of her border (2") together, which equals 30.5". Then giving a quarter inch seam allowance on both sides, minuses 0.5", leaving the border length to be 30" on all four sides.
If you don't want to measure and cut your border, Jeanette also shows the technique of trimming after sewing.
