Your sewing is so neat and precise. The back of the log cabin was so neat, I love when the backs of the blocks look like that. I know no one will see them but I still like knowing they are like that. I think it stems from my granny teaching me and telling me the back of your work should be just as neat as the front! It doesn’t always happen, it’s actually quite rare so I live it when it does happen.

Alexandra, my Nana always said the exact same thing! Of course that was referring to garments, but just as true for quilts. I always try to achieve that goal.

Jeanette, You have changed my mind about a block I have never really liked. The red and white is stunning. I like it so much that I just ordered the honey buns to make my first ever log cabin quilt. I'll send you pics when I'm done. Although it may be awhile because I have several projects in front of this one! 😂 Thank you SO much for your great tutorials!! ❤

Oh! I can see doing the blocks with the same light colors and swap royal blue for the red on 8 of the blocks. Using the Field & Furrows layout with the red blocks and blue blocks, it would look soooo patriotic!

I’m with you, the Log Cabin block is my favorite quilt block. And the fabric you used is beautiful. Thank you for showing all of the different layouts. Now You make me want to make another log cabin quilt. Question? Were you able to use the whole Honey Bun? Did it just makes 16 blocks?
@Conniemayjones-vp2kl6 ай бұрын
First I love the quilt. Quick question. I am American who retired to southern Spain. I have 28 containers of fabric that I do not have room for. They are all from quilt shops 100:% cotton. Hundreds of flannels. Smallest cut of any is 9" by width of fabric. Really priced to sell. Could you give me an idea where to advertise? Any information would be very much appreciated. Connie

This is a 4x4 square quilt. Do you need even numbers like 8x8 or can you work with odd blocks like 6x7. I’m working on my first quilt-actually trying to make the quilt my mom had planned to make for my daughter. Mom passed away before she got started on it. I really have no idea how to lay it out or how many squares I need for a queen sized quilt. Any advice is greatly appreciated
@SewingStudio6 ай бұрын
So lovely, that you are completing a quilt on behalf of your Mum, Log Cabin is one of my favourites and I’m sure your daughter will love it and you’ll do your Mom proud. You can work in odd/even combination of blocks such as 6x7 but it very much depends on which layout you choose, some work best with even number of blocks, such as the star layout, but the beauty of Log Cabin is that there are so many layout options. A Queen sized quilt is typically between 88" and 99" wide and 94" to 108" in length. The blocks I made finish at 7 inches so you would need 13 or 14 blocks wide and 14 or 15 rows to make a quilt the size you want. Alternatively you can add more rounds of ‘logs’ to make the block larger and reduce the number needed, or do Log Cabin in the centre and add borders to bring the quilt to size. I hope that is helpful and that it all makes sense. Good luck with the quilt, please do share any pictures, even if it’s work in progress ones. Jeanette
