Hi guys, we still reckon visiting pasar malam or night markets are a brilliant introduction to local life- you get to sample great food, mingle with locals and have a gander at what fresh fruit and produce is around. This pasar malam at TTDI had an awesome range of food which we haven’t seen at other night markets around KL. We loved it! Make sure you’ve subscribed to our channel: goo.gl/9rfeRS so you don’t miss out on more food videos! And if you enjoyed this one we’d love it if you shared it with people who you think might like our videos too 🤗 Thanks for your support! Cheers,Thomas & Sheena P.S Subscriber meet up in KL on Sunday 5 November at 6:00pm at KLCC park (near the children’s pool and whale statue). Follow us on Instagram and Facebook @chasingaplate for reminders closer to the time. Can't wait to meet you guys!

Have you guys been to OUG's night market? It's not really big but the food you can get there is great! They have A fried prawn cake that is just too good to miss! But you have to get there early or you would have to wait a really long time. The stall is opposite the famous stadium popiah stall which also always have a long queue and infront the chinese herbal shop. The oug pasar malam is more chinese centered thou so you may not find that many traditional food. OUG also has a famous keoy teow soup and pan mee kopitiam for lunch. Have you tried it? The keoy teow soup stall has their own shop at night at a different street if you want to skip the rush hour.

Pulut udang usually called in West Coast & North side, Pulut panggang in East Coast. The inti is serunding kelapa (the spicy one, the sweet one like in kuih ketayap/bom/tepung gomak) & yes no prawn, just the kuih name, maybe some udang kering. While in East Cost pulut panggang the filling is serunding ikan, but some area use serunding kelapa. Serunding kelapa also use in pulut serunding ( pulut is coated with it).

That chicken soup is probably Soto ayam judging from the colour. Originate from Indonesia (they have different kinds of soto... Soto Madura, Soto Betawi and etc). Usually it is serve with lontong (rice cakes) but we have only on version here in Msia and Spore... and we also eat it with yellow noodles and mee hoon other than the original version of rice cake.

I would avoid pasar malam's milo ais, teh ais or anything that have condensed milk simply because they usually taste really bland (because of the melted ice) or they replace the condensed milk with sugar and use other chocholate powder brand to reduce cost. Try milo ais again at Mamak or restaurants for more malty, creamy milo ais. Milo tabur is amazing too. Not sure what to call this in English but basically it is milo ais with lots of Milo sprinkled on top. Milo ais always give teh tarik a hard time maintaining its spot as National's drink 😂😂😂 Correct me if Im wrong, about the Taiwanese or foreign food, maybe the pasar malam that you went to have more Chinese hawkers. This one is like the Malay pasar malam. The more Chinese centered ones have non-halal food so usually you cant really find Malay stalls. For the Malay pasar malam like this one, you can see there is less Chinese hawkers except maybe for the fruit and vegetable stalls. That green thing in the curry puff might be parsley. My mom put parsley in the fillings for aroma. My favorite pasar malam drink apart from soy bean milk would be Ribena lychee. The Ribena and lychee combo is just refreshingggg. Have you tried ayam percik? Not sure of the English name but basically it's grilled chicken with amazing sauceeee 🍗🍗🍗
@ChasingaPlate7 жыл бұрын
Hi ParkSiQa! The milo was differently more watered down than one I'd make at home. It was still really lovely though! 😋 I have a milo tabur in KK earlier this year which was SOOO good! Would you pick Milo ais or teh tarik? I'd pick teh tarik 😀😋 There were more Chinese sellers at the other pasar malam for sure. We noticed lots of the people selling Taiwanese and more modern food were often young people also. Neat to see people starting food businesses like that! After eating more of the curry puff and seeing the leaf more it turned out to be curry leaf. Having parsley in there sounds truly tasty though! Thanks so much for all the tips! We've not tried Ribena lychee of ayam percik yet so we'll have to try them out! Thanks for watching! Cheers, Thomas 😀😀

I should say my memorable night market food when i was little would be 'ayam percik'. Its chicken on bamboo stick dipped in coconut milk marinade and cooked over charcoal. But it seems to be hard to find nowadays. U should try it if u come across it.

*_Putu piring_* - I just watched your first try of putu piring. You two struggled trying to stay positive. 😂👍 *_favorite market_* - Naschmarkt in Vienna, Austria. 1.5 km open air alley with permanent shops, stalls, restos on both sides selling every food you can imagine. Seafood, meats, fruit, veg, cheeses, charcuterie, pastries, candies, gelato, you name it from all around the world. Open from dawn to midnight but most stalls and shops close just after dark when the bars and cafes really come to life. It was on my walk to the city center so I popped in several times. Very enjoyable walk through and commentary, guys. I really need to try some jackfruit one of these days!!
@ChasingaPlate7 жыл бұрын
😂😂😂😂 I know right Tosh?! Nothing like the one we tried here or for the Melaka Top 10 video. Hot is definitely the way to go. I'm glad we gave it another chance! Naschmarkt sounds absolutely incredible. I honestly could spend hours in markets like that- we stumbled across a few in Paris like that- really locals ones and the cheeses and pastries had me absolutely transfixed. Thanks for sharing that with us! Cheers, Sheena
@tosht25157 жыл бұрын
You mentioned before that you will keep trying things even after your first experience isn't great. I love that so much. :) Yup, Naschmarkt is pretty great. Popular with travelers but all the fresh produce is definitely for the locals. It's officially over 500 years old but a full-on market since *_only_* the 1700s. Haha. Seriously. Have a fantastic week. ~Tosh
@ChasingaPlate7 жыл бұрын
haha only the 1700s! Those dates in Europe are incredible! We always like to try lots of versions of things to really get a feel for a dish. We much prefer slow travel so we have plenty of time to try lots of things in a city and then also head back for rounds two, three, four....😋😂 - Thomas 😀

Am Rithwan Ubi kayu kalau stimkan macam putu piring dia akan jadi kuning, 'translucent' dan kenyal sikit macam ubi kayu rebus..kena plak dengan gula melaka cair panas2 dalam putu ubi tu.. haha.. teringin plak.. kalau sejuk dah keras..kurang sedap..

There are 2 types of jack fruit in malaysia ..the one you tried is nangka, i personally don't like those ones ..the other is cempedak ..this ones are yummy, especially when they are fried, you can even eat the seed after is it fried ..don't know why both type of fruit have the same name in English tho ..because it tastes different to me and looks different too
