Yeah, rolling hitch is what we're taught as sailors, but as a climber I was taught Prusik knot (or loop) and I find it more grippy and stable. Very simple knot and can't go wrong, but you need to have or make up a rope loop to use. Lovely video as usual. Good to show sailing in all its facets.
@ChasingCurrents2 жыл бұрын
Hey, We have also used a Prusik knot 😁, not for a while but in the early days. We watched a video of a sailor going up a mast using them and was amazed by how well they worked. Definitely one for us to keep using. So glad you enjoyed the video thank you. All our best Jade and Brynn

For rubber and plastic parts, you should use a silicone grease - mineral based greases will perish the rubber and can make plastics brittle.
@ChasingCurrents3 жыл бұрын
Ahh thank you, I did try looking for a silicon based grease as im sure we had one but couldn't find it. We will keep an eye this season and service if needed. Thankyou for commenting so others can learn as well 😁

Wow, 3000 Euros is way too much, mine was £200 secondhand from a Cowes boatyard. However, don't despair, have a look at the YT channel Sailing Vegans. They did a DIY arch early on their channel for a huge 800w solar installation by themselves from parts.

Yeah we thought that too! Definitely going to look at doing it ourselves, cheers for the suggestion - we'll take a look 😁👍

I look forward to ya'lls videos every week. I binged all of your videos last month and have been hooked ever since. I plan on getting a sailboat in 2ish years and your videos have been an incredible wealth of information. I was sooo happy when you replied to my comment about seeing the dolphins from a Submarine. I plan to buy you two coffee next week (currently a broke student again so bare with me lol). You've truly inspired me to keep working toward my goal of owning my own sailboat. Keep up the amazing content, enjoy your journey, but most importantly stay safe out there.

Aw thanks so much! Really glad you're enjoying them 😁 and awesome that you're planning on getting a boat too - if ever you have any questions you know where to find us 😊 don't worry about the coffee! Even just watching our videos and commenting is a huge support. It's amazing to hear that we were part of the inspiration for your goals too! You have no idea how good that is to hear 😁 keep going and you'll be out on your own adventures before you know it ⛵🌊

Ahhh…boat job fun! That slime line looked pretty chaffed 😬😬 Rolling hitch is a great knot that I have to look up every time I use it…my brain just won’t lock it in 😂😂 Another way to consider easing pressure on the bow line is to motor forward gently. Nothing wrong with what you did but it’s just another option. Another great vid 👍🏻😊
@ChasingCurrents3 жыл бұрын
Me and Brynn both read this comment, looked at each other and asked 'why didn't we think to motor forward gently?' 🤔 🤣🤣 for some reason our brain decided to go to the more complex solution first hahaa, at least it gave us an excuse to practice our knots 😅 cheers for watching guys 👍

It was extremely windy, we can't exactly hide it unfortunately. I'm sure we mentioned in the video we were experiencing 50knots of wind, don't think at any point we had wind noise over our talking? Let me know if we're wrong though 👍
@ZZ-ek7mx2 жыл бұрын
@@ChasingCurrents just a small point, I had headphones on so that didn’t help on my side ☺️. Having a suitable wind suppressing ‘dead-cat’ for your mic will really lift the outdoor content when the wind is blowing. All the best.
