You hardly ever see Don's emotions, When he does, pay attention, it's not over a deer. Shows Don is way more then just a good deer hunter. And for that I want to say, Thankyou Don.

You have no idea how close this is to exactly what we went through with our daughter (only child). I told her the same thing you said. It should be me not you. I put off a couple of trips out west because I didn’t want to be that far from her. She said you’ve always put your life on hold for me just go hunting. She beat cancer in just a few months and shortly after I arrowed the biggest deer of my life. Just like when she was little she was right by my side and took charge of the tracking. It’s family and the little things that matter the most. We will keep your family in our thoughts and prayers. Thank you for this video it meant more to me than you will ever know.

My faith has also been tested. Our son was born with non verbal autism and when he reached puberty he started having grand mal siezures. I have asked God over and over why dealing my son with another bad card in life. I had to give up deer hunting to take care of my son 24 7. Had to sell my bow, muzzle loaders etc to pay for his needs. I miss so bad sitting in the woods hunting and watching nature and the heart pounding moment when the buck i have been watching appears. Those days gave me a time to reflect and have stress free time. I pray for those days again

Great video Mr. Higgins. I too wonder what God has for us in our lives. I have a grandson who since seven has been in a wheelchair and will be for the rest of his life. He has finally accepted that and I’m so proud of him. He has become an excellent shot with a pistol and rifle. He also is learning to play a guitar. My son in law had brain cancer surgery about six months ago and is doing great. I like you have been deer hunting a long time but at 73 not as much as I would like to. I built a new selfbow this past year and shot it every day but when my shot came I missed. It was a little disappointing but when I sat back down on my stand I realized it had been a great hunt. Today is thanksgiving and I’ll have a great day with the family. Tomorrow morning I’m back in that stand with the osage bow.

Don, I just watched your video. As a deer hunter, as a father of two boys with Duchenne's Muscular Dystrophy ( a terminal neuromuscular disease), I know first hand what it's like to see your children suffer. For mine, there is no hope at a cure. Im not trying to down play your daughters condition, not at all, just letting you know, you are not alone in that pain my friend. You have reached people through your messages of faith, you have helped people more than you know. For what it's worth, you've helped me to "see the light", to become a lot stronger in my faith, and to want to be a better man. I stumbled across your content years ago, by accident, on KZbin one day. I believe it was a seminar you were doing at a church. I remember that day like it was yesterday, and it's been years ago. I've followed your content ever since. I know it's long winded, but some people look up to you, and for alot more than deer hunting. God bless you and your family. Thanks for another great video

Don, I can relate to this video in so many ways! A few years back, my wife was diagnosed with breast cancer. To say the least, I was devastated. I could not understand why God would allow this to happen to her as her faith is VERY STRONG! She gives of herself unselfishly, and puts others before her. So why her? But it was her faith and prayer that got her through it, and as of now she is in remission and was recently told that there was less than a two percent chance of it reoccurring. Thanks be to God for that! And as to my legacy, I am leaving my small farm to my two children and my grandson, with the hope that they will hold on to it FOREVER. As I have told them, they don't make any more ground, so hang onto it, and cherish it. It is not only the farm, but all of the equipment, and the cabin that I am leaving them. PLUS, all of the work and improvements, and habitat work. The farm, though small, has seen a VAST IMPROVEMENT in our deer herd, and the turkey and quail have been seen in greater numbers as of late. This year my son and I both killed nice bucks off of my seventy acres, and my grandson took a nice doe. This was a MEMORABLE season for sure! And, like you, age has me realizing that my hunting days are on the downhill slide now. As I cleaned and put my rifle away the other day I thought to myself that I hope to be able to take it out "Just one more time". Just know that I am praying for your daughter, family, and of course, yourself.

Thanks for allowing us to become closer to you and your family. You sir are a legend and you’re our generations father of conservation. Don you’re an inspiration to us hunters, you’ve given us a path to fallow for success afield. You’ve laid the foundation for figuring out and managing deer. Excellent video….not just for hunting….but as a mature responsible man and how he should live his life. You are a role model for us all in the woods and outside the woods. Like you, I have had special issue in my life that were not the greatest….but I tried to make the best of them. I deeply admire your accomplishments, and your passion. When I was younger, I shared your passion…and had great men as role models and hunters. And they are good memories….but I was always the youngest in my group….and over the years, I watched each one pass….and the pain of losing their friendships. Today I’m alone and I’m 68. Regret never having sons or family to continue my legacy, why God never allowed me the giants I saw in the woods, and why I had so many obstacles in my pursuit. But what is ……is….even if I don’t understand it. Still, I wish the best for you and your family….you are so lucky to have them to care for…and who care for you. Best of luck with everything in the woods…and outside the woods. Only the best you young whipper Snapper….

Life lessons pasted on to younger generations!!! You made one comment that surprised me. You said that It would be good for for folks to learn before they “get old like me at 60” I was like,… 19:01 19:01 man he ain’t old!! But I realized I am in my mid 60s. After I retired I change my diet to only whole food, no sugar or processed food and started working out n walking 3-5 miles a day with sprints (when I am not hunting or running the 60 plus trail cameras). I do not feel like I am old at all!!! I feel like I am 30. I now realize the importance of taking care of Gods temple (our body) more than ever. I only hunt the most remote rugged places I can find and have taken my biggest buck of a life time doing it. Praise the Lord for his many blessings that I do not deserve. God is good all the time!! Keep up your testimony!! I r touching many lives through yr ministry!!👍💪🙏👆

If anyone only remembers hunting then they need to look into their life and do some analysis and change before it’s too late. I listen to every podcast, video and God, faith, family are always mentioned . God is always working and your family is so blessed and your daughters couldn’t be more proud to have their kids grow up with you mentoring and planting the seeds that will help them choose God and pursue their own dreams. We will continue our sincere commitment of prayers for Andrea in this chapter, God will always bring us through the storm, it’s easy to get distracted and worry about the storm but His word is our promise.
