Don, putting together the puzzle is only half the battle. The discipline u talk about is so often disregarded by those who say you can't shoot them if u aren't out there. I've come to the conclusion that u can't shoot a ghost. The guy with the best chance is the 1 with the clean slate. Mel & Joey r proof that weather & particular routines followed by individual bucks can't be ignored. I'm going to use your rope on a branch this year so thanks for that. Glad u were able to dodge that Covid scare when u were trying to get Mel. Unfortunately we both lost a friend last spring when Vaughn in Ohio passed on. God bless Don.

This man and his two books has completely changed everything about how I was taught and raised deer hunting!!! Since I read his first book nearly 12 yrs ago, my success rate has consistently went straight up!!! We need many more hunters out there just like him and that’s not even talking about how respectful and humble he is!! Most people certainly aren’t quick to share his kind of knowledge either if they had it! Thanks so much Mr Higgins and keep them bucks in bow range!! 👍

Great video Don, I have always said, the ground work and scouting before a hunt, is paramount for success, some say you are just lucky, but i don't agree, i get on google earth all the time even to fish the river for big catfish, God is a rewarder to those who are diligent, instead of luck, i call it being blessed........

Your just a great humble man Don! Much respect and thanks for everything you say and do. A true inspiration to us “younger” hunters, as I listen to you, it really changes my perspective on hunting in general. I’m thankful for that, I’m 25 and have plenty of time to become a successful hunter (not just about trophy hunting). As well giving the wildlife the dignity, and habitat it deserves. The podcasts are just pure gold!!! Keep doin whatcha do Don!

Hey Don, glad I was able to sit in on your seminar here in Ohio a few weeks back. Loved it, and I learned a lot. Also love the KZbin video's. Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us...... I believe I was born for bow hunting giant whitetails. They are on my mind every single day. As a young teenager, I would spend hours/weeks out in the woods by myself trying to learn as much as I could about these whitetails (I'm self taught and love hunting alone). Even during the off season I'm scouting public land and trying to figure out where these giant whitetails are living..... I am constantly asking myself why is this giant buck doing this or that? I scout a lot..... I'm constantly logging information on my On-X. I'm slowly starting to see the puzzle come together.

For years I have had other others complain that they cant get permission to hunt property and over the years I have never been told no except once and this lady called back 3 days later and said yes. She said I was the only one that her cat Midnight ever allowed to pet him so I must be a nice guy. It isnt always money, or part of the kill that people want to allow you to hunt. Its honesty, and kindness and understanding. Today I have over 1300 acres to hunt all by myself and I rarely go to them. And none of these people will ever allow others to hunt even though I dont, because we have all become good friends.

At 9:17 the pic that you're looking at the deer from it's hind end I can give you some advice. I don't know if you'll see my comment but if you do that area would be an area in the spring to look for morel mushrooms (only if you know how to identify them). Theirs a dying elm tree and the woods behind that tree kinda has that "morel look" to them.

I really enjoy watching your videos. I am hunting a good buck on about 300 acres no pressure other than me going on this land. I got several summer pictures and once he lost Velvet, I don't have anymore pictures of him. I'm pretty sure to my right in a thicker of about 10+ acres it is his bedding area. I'm trying to figure out where he is now. This makes twice that I've hunted two different mature bucks and I can't seem to see them while in the stand. I am in middle TN near the KY line. What would you do in this case?
@chasinggiantswithhigginsou6147 Жыл бұрын
put trail cameras in every direction. He shifted to his fall range and you need to figure out which direction he went

Another awesome deer. I see in the video (8:49 mark) you use the same linesman belt to hang stands that I have. I have been asked many times where to find one. I bought at a trade show many years ago but haven't seen them in years. Any Idea where to find one?
