I owned one of these back in 1973-1976. Dark blue with white stripes (paid $2100 used for it) 4 speed M22 Rock Crusher, console, bucket seats, 3.36:1 12 bolt posi, had Appliance 2" primary tube headers, 2-1/2 full exhaust system, high rise intake from a 427 L72, AC A212CW hi-flow 14"x3" air filter, modified 850 cfm double pumper, 90/10 front shocks etc...previous owner purchased it new and modified it for drag racing mostly on the street..very strong car....Took it to Detroit drag way in 1973 and it run 12.70's-12.80's on the stock size bias ply tires...very hard to get it moving without frying the tires in every gear. It would spin the tires at the 2--3 gear change at 80 mph and lay down 60-80' of rubber...I am sure with slicks, open headers, and a 4:10 gear that car would have run high 11's...I broke the M22 input shaft twice on the street drag racing. I had the old "Ramcharger's" shop in Taylor Michigan install a Schafer clutch disc and pressure plate in it in August 1973.

The main caps are the same width and will interchange and all you have to do is drill and tap the outer two bolt holes to make it a four bolt. You put the donor four bolt main caps in a milling machine and trim the mating surface, then install the caps and line hone the main bearing bore back to standard size. I don't think there's any way that car has 199,000 miles on it, but I could be wrong... Something was done to the engine though because when they were loading the car you could see the oil pan and balancer, and it looked like it had recently been painted Chevy orange. It would be nice to know if the engine had been rebuilt recently, or if the owner was just cleaning and detailing the engine. The gentleman said that he took it to a mechanic to get the car running, and he mentioned that he adjusted the shifter linkage. Seems a little strange though because I noticed when he was driving it that he wasn't able to get it to go into third gear from second gear... I was really surprised to see that it still has the correct cowl induction air filter housing and that it doesn't have headers, because it has a big aftermarket tach under the dash, and a shift light mounted to the steering column. It's really odd that they put the build sheet partially under the side frame of the seat and put two hog rings through it. They were typically just partially stuck underneath the wire.
