I'd love to have a 70 SS . First car was a 72 four door. I'd be happy with a Malibu cloned to look like a SS as it would almost be affordable to get.

I totally appreciated that most awesome blast to the past! I would of been as giddy as a school girl in that beautiful SS 454 Chevelle. My first car I saved and bought was a 1971 SS 454 Chevelle. It was jet black with white stripes. Turbo 400 automatic. Black interior, bucket seats, Thank you for taking me back to 1979!🙂👍

@@chadhaire1711They may be all that but check out the popularity and resale value. What vehicle from that era wasn't a rust prone car, not very many. I bought a 1970 Chevelle SS Forest Green L34 4spd with white stripes and black bench seat interior. I paid 7800 for that car in 1998.l put a few bucks into it and now have a great car . Get hundreds of compliments and is it for sale questions.

Yeah, it’s really hit or miss. Somedays he is super into it, and others he’s very reserved. Like you said, not unusual for a young teen. Although I’ll admit I didn’t really expect him to understand the significance of this Chevelle. That will come with time. The young Nick would not have understood either. ~ Nick

Amen!! If anyones had a hood latch fail and pop up on them the pins stop that. Mine had pins when I got it...welded them shut. Sometimes wonder if its a good idea to add them again

Hes a lucky guy just having a chevelle at that age! Nothing wrong with a stock 2bbl esp if hes gonna drive it a lot...gas is $ nowadays! Gives him a chance to get the feel for it and plan for mods he really wants! Had plenty of stock musclecars back when I was a teenager. Great cars to learn on easy to get to stuff Hugger Orange or Cortez Silver Trevor!

The LS6 featured square port heads which flows more air at high rpms plus a solid lifter cam. These two differences in engineering gave it the higher hp output but also made it a bit more temperamental than the more basic 4 bolt main big block with hydraulic lifters and forged crank.

I ordered one new in 1970 the exact same color combination but with the 4 speed muncie M22 stone crusher transmission. but some POS stole it from me with only 3200 miles on it.i replaced the stock wheels with Cragar S/S and Mickey Thomson tires.Washed it every day and waxed it once a week. most beautiful car I ever owned. and that includes the 63 split window Corvette I owned.

My first car was a 68 Chevelle with a small block 327 with the 2 speed power glide trans, Holley 4 barrel carb. It wasn’t as fast as the big block 396 but it was plenty fast enough for my first car. I owned 2 70 Chevelles with the 350 and they were not as fast as the 327 was.

I drove pretty much every muscle car made from 1965 to 1971 including a LS6 Chevelle. If i had my choice the LS6 Chevelle would be my choice. Yes , I drove the Hemi cars too. I replaced the LS6 in mine with the LS7 which has the open chamber heads and more camshaft but I went with a roller.

The hood pins only came on SS cars that had the ZL2 Cowl Induction Hood (flapper).

Okay so I gotta ask. What is your definition of a clone? If you put SS stripes and chrome delete the exterior and go with the Chevelle guages, bucket seats and horseshoe shifter with a big block it sounds like a clone to me.

Id do a more modern 6 speed just for comfort on ghe highway. Thats whats cool now adays is you can add some good new stuff, a t56 magnum and a good oil and tranny cooler. Good stuff. If you had a 6 speed you could go with 3.55 gears and it would have a real sweet spot in 3rd and 4th gear, a very very usable sweet spot.

Have 4.11s and a 26 inch tire. 6th is still unusable unless Im going at least 75. SOme due to the cam but stil...5 spd woulda been better

I liked these but prefer the 65 ss drop top with a 396. I dont care about numbers matching , thats for guys that never drive their cars .

It's correct for a base ss dash without clock and tach. The Malibu could actually be optioned with tach and gauges. U14 would be the code @@AutoTechNick

454 was 450 GROSS horsepower which is only 365 NET horsepower...any 2023 Dodge Charger with stock 5.7 puts out more at 375 NET horsepower. Lets get it right
