My sister came home from MA in 1992 with a tape, the A side was Dinosaur JR, the B was Screaming Trees, that tape changed my fucking life. RIP Mark

What Dinosaur jr? I was obsessed with them in the 90s and would sport a " j mascis is GOD " shirt much to the confusion of family and small town locals. The Green Mind LP and the EP were of my go-to's.

One of the greatest rock bands of all time! Nirvana was more famous, and while I love them too, The Trees are the Northwest's best!

I love the Screaming Trees many many years after first discovering them! The mainstream didn't work out for their music, but before that they recorded brilliant stuff!

A lot of people don't realize what an influence the Trees,Mark in particular,was on Nirvana and Kurt Cobain. Kurt looked up to them,they were a little older and were already in SST records and playing killer gigs when Nirvana were just starting out. Mark's "Winding Sheet" solo record was the blueprint for the sound of Nirvana Unplugged and Nirvana were even on that album,on Mark's version of "Where Did You Sleep Last Night?",in 1990,a few years before Kurt's (Nirvana's) iconic Unplugged version. Two of my favorite bands for sure. I could ramble forever about this and more or less have already! 😂

This stuff right here is probably some of the best they came up with during the 80's. Can't wait to read Lanegan's book.

The fact that this isn't in spotify is just criminal hahaha Amazing EP
@chipmillard50432 жыл бұрын
What's even more criminal is that it is entirely out of print and is not available even for digital download.

Sub Pop probably the greatest indie label ever
@chipmillard50432 жыл бұрын
It was SST at one time, and probably would have remained that way if Greg Ginn wasn't a giant douchebag. The Screaming Trees spread the love though by having releases on both SST and Sub Pop.

The Connor Bros are amazing and Lane gans voice is deep and powerful but Drummer Mark Pickeral is the unsung member with is steady and strong percussion.. Gives another layer to the Trees.

What's interesting about this EP, in addition to being all killer and no filler, is that it has two different producers on it, but it doesn't sound like it. That's notable because they used the same two producers, Jack Endino (who produced "Change Has Come" and "Days") and Steve Fisk (who produced "Flashes", "Time Speaks Her Golden Tongue", and "I've Seen You Before") on all of their previous records, which DID sound different than one another. Fisk produced their debut EP (Other Worlds) and first three albums (Clairvoyance, Even If and Especially When, and Invisible Lantern), while Endino produced their 4th album, Buzz Factory, which had a punchier sound than their previous releases IMO. I'm still thinking about you Mark and your Screaming Trees bandmates a month after your passing. You are missed. RIP Mark Lanegan.

I think Garry is an incredible guitar player and songwriter. I don't know why he didn't form or join another band, when the Trees broke up. I've heard they didn't make a lot of money and that he had to get a paper route to support his family.
