There’s a look on most NICU parents faces, that’s full of so many emotions. It’s a mixture of love, fear and sadness. There’s also hope. It’s almost like you’re afraid to be happy. Things change so fast in the NICU. I’m not sure if you are aware of the meaning of a purple butterfly on an isolate. It means the baby had a sibling that passed away. A mom had twins and lost one. She found it hard to cope with all the well wishes for her living child and no one understood her sadness. So she came up with a way for people to know that the baby with a purple butterfly had lost a sibling. That way people could understand the sadness and the joy were all one. Sending much love to all of you.

The best thing your doing is holding your baby my grandson was born at 30 weeks weighing 3lb9oz Dropping to 3lb2oz and my son and daughter in law held him all the time and they were told that’s why he did so well . He is now a happy intelligent 3 year old making us proud everyday.💕💕

Our granddaughter, Angel, was born 3 months premature, weight 2lbs, and she was also born on December 19, she spent a month in the NICU and we got to bring her home at 4lbs. That was 25 years ago and she is now a beautiful young lady that teaches 8th grade English. Bless your beautiful young family

We call my oldest daughter Peanut 😊❤ she lost over a lbs after birth and was such a cute tiny little peanut at 6lb 14.5z (36wks gestational)... (got down to 5lb something) Then we had a full term chubby from the start 9lb baby girl❤ ... but our last was born right on the 1st day of my 31st week gestational date❤ 3lb 12oz, 16inches... we call her RooRoo for Kangaroo ☺️ she was so hyper in my womb and at the NICU lol. Kicking like crazy with those tiny little scrawny legs at 3lb 1oz. ❤ 🤍So thankful with you all that Violet is thriving and growing so well!!!💜

My daughter had twin boys borned at 31 weeks one weighed 1 lb 14oz and the other one 3lbs 5oz. They spent 6 weeks in NICU and are now 16 and typical teenagers with no problems whatsoever. We will keep you and Violet in our prayers. Mark and the boys shopping trips make my day

When my daughter Jessica was born sleeping my counselor suggested I set up a memorial table and place a box with a log on it so my husband and I could write letters to her and put them in it. I will say that helped us tremendously.

My granddaughter, her name is Lauren was a preemie. She weighed 3pounds and came at 30 weeks. She was helicoptered to children’s hospital in St Louis, Mo. but they called her their little butterfly 🦋 because she was doing so good. She was home after 3 weeks. She just graduated from university of Missouri in May. Works in the medical field and works in the orthopedic clinic at the hospital. So I had to tell my story to show you how this beautiful talented young woman grew and thrived her whole young life and we are very proud. Prayers and lots of love gets you through lives little and big challenges. Hugs and prayers to your beautiful family. ❤❤❤❤

The Fun thing about Violet is that she is a rainbow baby and her name is one of the colors of the rainbow!!! Most parents have to wait a year or two to have their rainbow baby after the loss of one baby but you and mark got your rainbow baby the next day and on Boxing Day as well!!!

My heart breaks for you. My son and daughter in law had twin boys in june, 13 weeks early. They had TTTS with surgery at 17 weeks. Fortunately they made it 10 more weeks to 27 week. They were in the nicu for 91 and 123 days respectively. I pray your daughter continues to grow and thrive.

Hi Lauren I have being following your vlog for a little while now, congrats on the birth of baby Violet and so sorry about baby Maggie. You are an amazing lady, mother and wife. My mum found out she was pregnant at 23 weeks (as she was told she would never be able to have children) and I was born at 28 weeks weighing 2 and a half lbs and dropped to 2lb straight away. I am now 59 year old and she was told by the doctor that girls are fighters more than boys. Back then when the mother was discharged from the maternity ward they could not go back and visit or see the baby until the baby was discharged home. I was kept in hospital for the first 3 months, but all worked out and I survived and she went on to have another baby girl seven years later. She used to say that they told her second baby was going to be small and she asked what size and they said between 6 and 7 pounds, she smiled and said that very big the one at home was only 2lb. Best of luck and I pray that Violet continues to put on the weight. Love Ina from Ireland

As a nciu mom myself even as stressful as things r now remember take it one day at time at times don't feel bad about putting u n ur family's needs before everything else I use to take a notebook n pen w me to keep notes n if needed be able to leave messages for the doctors n or nurses

Make sure all of your family gets the RSV vaccine. Including anyone who may be babysitting aka grandma and grandpa. The RSV vaccine is recommended for everyone. I'm vaccinated and I'm about your parent's age

What a sweet baby she is! My husband was the smaller twin preemie, at almost 70 yrs old he’s doin’ well 😉 So very happy for Violet. She’s simply perfect.
