It’s a very complicated and expensive process in NSW. Highly qualified and experienced Uk/Irish electricians arrive here and end up working for minimum wage and getting taken advantage of especially by employers. So many horror stories from the guys I have spoken to, think carefully and do your research before coming over. Be prepared to start at the very bottom again and make sure you get written contracts, always be on your guard. You will have to do the Capstone exam and prove your overseas qualifications with references from previous employers etc and it will set you back a lot of dollars and time off work. Be wary of electrical training organisations who promise you a qualification, most of these qualifications mean nothing here and they will take your money and run. Also if you are offered sponsorship read the small print very carefully, a lot of guys who come over end up returning to where they came from due to the whole electrical licensing process and the high cost of living in Australian cities. If you want an adventure for a year or two do it but if you’re thinking long term other countries maybe more appealing in reality due to cost of living. Stay Safe guys and girls.

Where would you recommend for a uk electrician to do their skills assessment to be recognised over there?

Wow, only direct online starter circuit for practical test? That's too easy.

What are the chances of the EoI being accepted as a sparky? Seems a lot of money to spend if they deny you...... Only curious as I'm a spark considering the move myself!
