My daughter is having trouble writing papers for college, where the chat gpt checker keeps saying her papers were written using chat gpt. So now she is making intentional typos and poor grammar to be able to get her papers past the stupid checker. It's ruining it for actual folks who know how to write well.

Mark Normand used a free Chatbot to generate a Mark Normand joke and he said it was just okay. He had a fancy expensive Chatbot do a Mark Normand joke and I think he said it was so good that it terrified him.

Right both jokes were from the same chatbot this podcast mainly spoke about called ChatGPT. He said the okay joke was from the free version but the good one was from the paid version which costs $20 a month.

The REAL questions is: Can MAGAs pass the Turing Test? Maybe we have a Turing Test before being allowed to vote? At a minimum, can we have a Turing Test for the candidates? (It might weed out the non-thinking dogmatic candidates)

I recently opened a video (as in: three videos prior to this one) there was an ad about investing and it was a combo of Elon Musk videos plus a AI voice of his.... it was so disturbing. It clearly wasn't him.... and I'm wondering what can be done about it. Could HE possibly file a lawsuit and have that video taken down? It's his image, his AI voice, and all the wrong words coming out of his mouth. For example: he says "Are you in Perth right now? (where I live) but it was clearly the word "person" spliced with "mouth" or something to create the word "Perth". It's just wrong.

Many people are extremely susceptible to this kind of manipulation. Expect to see more and more targeted AI- generated scams. Very cynical 'clever' psychologists are designing these. Almost more worrying than the financial scams are the manipulation of political and ideological messages. By putting words in a candidates mouth, and broadcasting mis-information, elections can be won or lost. It's already bad...I think it's going to get much, much worse. The scariest thing is that a majority seem to think it's just entertaining.

He's in a lot of those. Usually about crypto because there is significant overlap between the two fanbases, and his fans are very gullible and willing to believe anything he says, thus easily exploitable. He might be able to sue for unauthorized use of his likeness, but that would take years, and good luck even finding the people who made it to sue them in the first place. A copyright claim would be faster, but it would have to come from whatever media conglomerate owns the footage that was being used, and might not even work. So he's probably shit out of luck. As she says in the podcast, the legal issues around all of this have not been figured out yet.

Why do you need a human to talk about Chatbots? I'll be impressed when a chatbox can appear on the show, representing itself, without anyone realising. Until then, the rise of the Terminators is a very long way off. On the other hand, if it turns out Katherine IS a super sophisticated computer generated entity, then we are fcked.

The upside of AI voice syhtesis would be for people that can't speak. Imagine being able to create and evolve your "avatar" voice. This is personal. Being physically challenged to a point where a Stephen Hawking robot voice becomes your personality. There is much good to be had from AI.
