I’ve been watching the channel Garden Answer. She uses an auger with a drill to dig the holes. It makes planting so much faster. The hours spent would make the price of one worth it. They have a little tractor that can also till the ground. Something to consider with such a large property!

So happy for you! Love how your flogs tell stories with a beginning, a middle and an end, and always throwing in the unexpected. Brilliant! As for the abundance of leaves you must have in your forest here is something I did with my 40 something “kids” when they were little: we would rake the leaves into piles and then they took turns throwing themselves into them. Me and the other kid piled leaves on and over and then it was : Peekaboo! Once we were properly frozen through we went inside for hot chocolate and cookies. Then bath time before dinner and story time afterwards. They slept like angels

I just found your channel and very excited to go back to the beginning to follow your adventures from the start :) Someone else way have mentioned this, but I’m a firm believer in removing the burlap and twine from the root balls. Maybe you did this but doesn’t appear so from the video. Burlap will break down, but it takes time. If removed the plant will root in more quickly . Also, sometimes twine is plastic and if around the stem will not break down, and the tree will be girdled. Even if it is compostable, it will take time to break down so I prefer to remove. Trees of this size are a big investment, so planting practices are very important. Plants need to be well watered the first year until they are rooted in. Just my two cents. The hedge is lovely, I’m sure all of this hard work will pay off!

for your heavy dogging like removing the roses try using long handled shovels (easier on the back, greater leverage, stronger handles, more control once you get used to using them). Always dig the holes to transplant into BEFORE you dig a plant out to move it.
