Chateau Laroche, The Historic Loveland Castle & Museum, Ohio

The Historic Loveland Castle & Museum Chateau Laroche was built as an expression and reminder of the simple strength and rugged grandeur of the mighty men who lived when Knighthood was in flower. It was their knightly zeal for honor, valor, and manly purity that lifted mankind out of the moral midnight of the dark ages and started it towards the gray dawn of human hope. Present human decadence proves a need for similar action. Already the ancient organization of Knights has been re-activated to save society. Any man of high ideas who wish to help save civilization is invited to become a member of the Knights of the Golden Trail, whose only vows are the Ten Commandments. Chateau Laroche is the World headquarters and Residence of the K.O.G.T.

Harry and my Dad were close friends and we would visit him often when I was little. My own hands had a part in the construction of this Castle. I, along with my many other siblings, carried rocks from the nearby stream as he and Dad had their visit. We helped construct at least 6 walls over the years, some with cement blocks made from milk cartons and we had fun doing it, even though it was hard work. I was 11 when Harry passed away and it was the only time I ever saw my Dad actually cry, he sobbed nonstop for over an hour. Of course, I cried too because Harry was the closest I had to having a Grandfather, even though we weren't related.

I live 2 streets over from the castle...I am 63 y.o. now...Harry did my taxes (no charge), when I got my first job in 1976..I hang out there alot still..THAT castle is in Deerfield Township, sorry but you are wrong on the Township...look it up!!

I was on a scout canoeing trip in fall of 1980 and encountered the castle. It was completely unexpected. We met up with Harry and he encouraged us to go down to the river to carry rocks up to the castle site. He was putting gravel, rocks, and cement into litter half gallon milk cartons. I did not realize he had died less than a year later. He was still quite nimble and strong when we saw him.
