@@nancibishof6462 no these are not wall pockets at all that’s totally different. This style is meant to hang against a flat radiator they make a different style shape as a T to fit between the sections of an old radiator.

If you add a bright green rooted vine (not English ivy) to the humidifier wall vase it adds color to the room and helps balance the inside air. You'll add water more often but it's worth it to clean the air.

Hi Terry 🙂 You should make a list of furniture, wardrobes, beds, lamps etc, that you will need in the Chateau, and get a storage space set up somewhere, where things can just sit safely and not be in the way, until they are needed. The thing about having to find things on a budget, in thrift stores and fleamarkets, is that you have to buy, when the great deal appears. If you don't, you might not find it again when you need it, or ever, at that particular price. Oh, and that damaged painting? If you wanted, you could actually cut it down, put it on a new, smaller stretcher, find a new frame - and still have a nice painting - and since it is ripped, you'd probably get it for next to nothing.

My aunt lives in Tuscany and she has those square ceramic - what you called "vases" - with the hooks. They hang on the radiators, and I think that water is put in them to add some humidity to the air. The ones you saw are pretty. Hers are hand painted by local artists and are lovely too. Just like the lamp Tracy scored! Really enjoyed today's episode (let's be honest; I enjoy all of them!) but in particular this one, because it reminds me of wandering the epic (what us Aussies would call) carboot sale in Tuscany, where you can buy things manufactured before Australia was even colonised. I can't wait to go back. Your videos, even though French, gives me 'homesickness' for my second home. Thanks! PS Good job sucking in... I mean... 'educating' Tony to this kind of shopping! If you see nails then bargain them down because it's not been repaired properly & there are probably other mistakes in the piece. I also try to look behind it. Remember, dovetails!

The three flowered "vases" that you came across are not vases. They are clay, so porous and you fill them with water and hang them by the hook on the front of your electric or oil wall heater so as to keep a proper level of optimal humidity in a room.

The footstool is actually a vintage footstool. I bought a similar one when I was in Bavaria, before I move back to Austria where it has been in storage for 17 years now :(. Needless to say I like the Teddy Bear seat idea. I think my ancient bear will be in for a treat when he reaches 60. I think the shopping tours are great. I can't help think of the beautiful fire screens I have in storage, alone with a lot of old items I moved from Australia to Austria in 2002. There seem to be a lot more treasures to be found in France than here in Austria, but I haven't been looking for much being stuck in Vienna. I cringe and so did my Dad when he use to tell the story about how in the late 40s and in the 50s folk use to burn their old furniture for the new fads items that they could slowly afford for the new trend laminate. It was for us a depressing tale. I think this is the reason the family collection from OZ was transported to Austria rather than me selling it off.
