You are hands down the best teacher on KZbin. I've always had a aptitude for reading charts, percentages, and just math in general. I've been binging your videos the last two weeks. Just started paper trading this week. Made $80 past three days. No red day yet. Gonna take it up a notch now. I can't thank you enough for the knowledge you have given me. I know this is going to change my life! I feel it in my soul. Your strategy really does work.

Super good point made about back testing and slippage. Pretty sure paper trading accounts don’t experience slippage either, yet slippage is very real and usually painful.
@Thirteen74479 ай бұрын
"Paper trading" accounts DO experience slippage.
@scottamolinari6 ай бұрын
Yep. Slippage has cost me here and there up to 30 or even 40% of profits (or addition to losses, when I sell before my stop-loss, which is really painful). It comes with the territory though of trading highly volatile stocks. The trick is to set sell limits and not rely on the sell button. But, then you might be selling too early (or even worse, not at all, and you still have to hit the sell button to take a smaller profit). I've learned this over time and now, even though I have stop-loss limits, I can see when a rip is failing and just sell usually for a break even or smaller profit or less loss than my stop-loss. I don't use higher sell limits (anymore) and take the slippage hits here and there. I think the cool thing about this kind of in-the-moment decision making is, I have the feeling I am in control all the time, and I don't leave it to fate. I've learned that setting a tight stop-loss usually means the trade stopping out way too early, so my stop-losses are somewhat lower than most people say you should do. It's set well below the lowest price of a dip or a consolidation and I usually never hit it, because I stop the trade before it goes there. This allows me a kind of breathing room to let the pattern I'm planning on to evolve. I've found I win more doing this, than I was before, when my quite tight stop-losses were constantly getting hit, only for what I was planning to happen actually does. And, the loss causes FOMO in me and starting to tilt. So, like I said, I'd rather say, "I'm out" before my stop-loss and lose less and can say it was actually a win, because I was in control. It really does help me to trade this way. Also, with my broker, every order costs me money. So, buying, setting stop-loss and setting a higher limit order is three orders. If I hit the higher limit, great. But, if I set it too high, I have to use the sell button and that is 4 orders. So now, I always intend to make a trade with only three orders. On rare occasions, where the stock goes somewhat through the roof, I raise my stop loss to take profits "just in case". But, these kinds of rips don't happen that often. (And yes, small money account here, trying to use discipline and strategy to grow and learn and grow more. 😁

When you start trading with a 1k account should you trade in a cash account or margin account.
@jayflemingvideos9 ай бұрын
It really depends on what you want to do. Margin accounts allow for shorting, which the old adage goes, what goes up, must come down. However, you're limited to 2-3 day trades since you carry less than $25k. A cash account allows unlimited day trades if you're using settled cash. If you exhaust your settled cash, you'll need to wait a couple days to settle before you can start day trading again. My broker sort of allows day trading using buying power only, but if you sell a position that was bought using buying power, not settled cash, they will ding your account. If you have 2 or 3 dings in a years, they'll lock your account. Just remember, when using a cash account, it's always best to use settled cash.
@infinitelyllc9 ай бұрын
Margin is best, but you need $2000.
@afs41859 ай бұрын
Is this with a cash acct? Or PDT? CAUSE w cash account you have to wait for a day at least if a trade works out or not. If you using 90% of the 1k This makes a big diff in terms of how frequently you can maximize on this strat. Hence the time it would take.

Hey Ross, your info is fantastic. I have a question: 'What are your trade orders set to 'Market' or' Limit?' You seem to be able to catch a given price so precisely. When I'm using limit orders, sometimes the stock is falling, and I don't sell before the price drops dramatically. I thought maybe using a market order may be better.
