Fun fact, i came out with the idea of the human centipede around about 1995, waaaaaaay before the films did. It was an idea i had with my friends not for a movie, but we were all stoned and coming out with different crazy ideas for torture devices etc. The only difference between my idea and the movie, is that mine was to create a closed loop of fecal doom, ie: The person at the front of the centipede would attach to the person at the end of it, creating a closed loop of recycled sh!t sharing. Gross, disgusting….weird… I know, but i was high af and only 15 years old. I actually mentioned this ‘idea’ on various message boards in the late 90’s and early 2000’s, and often wondered if the maker of the films somehow stumbled upon my posts and thats where he got the idea for the movies….improbable, but you never know!

You can pay for the plus version to get access to the gpt-4 model inside chatgpt. It's a good deal better than the default model (3.5) you get inside chatgpt. I often to use it to help with coding stuff (random issues and writing boilerplate code I don't feel like doing) and asking random questions like you are. Gpt-4 is also multi-modal meaning it understands multiple types of inputs - so OpenAI at some point is supposed to release the functionality of it being able to read images (there are already open source projects you can use to do this currently like LLaVA and MiniGPT-4). There are also language models you can run locally (Meta's large language model called LLAMA leaked a few months ago), though they don't give as good of answers since they are typically much smaller in order to run on consumer hardware. AI and machine learning is such a rabbit hole. Been diving deep into the stuff since chatgpt came out. So many people seem on the extremes, tho. One side hypes it to extreme saying it's gonna take everyone's jobs immediately and/or make you tons of money a month, and then the other side just says it's a slightly better predictive text you get on phones. I'd recommend checking out the HuggingFace website if you're interested in what's available openly, too, as they are essentially the #1 site to host open models - you can test many models on the site, view spaces that give example interfaces utilizing them, and of course download them.

I’ve been avoiding the different forms of A.I. My mother in law showed me the various ways she’s been utilizing ChatGPT to help her in creating flyers for her job, and similar projects. Seeing it first hand, I was blown away. I had just replaced a crankshaft position sensor on a car, so I asked ChatGPT how to replace one on the specific car model. Sure enough, it listed out the steps. I asked for specifics in certain areas of the job, and it readily gave them. I was blown away X2. Since then, I’ve played around with it a lot. My daughter has a mitochondrial disease very similar to MELAS syndrome. Using ChatGPT, I’ve been able to quickly address concerns related to my daughter’s symptoms, medications.. and it’s even suggested a different kind of ventilator for her to use at night. The current one she uses seems to make her stop breathing in the middle of the night, and without a pulse oximeter, I have no doubt she would have passed months ago. I’m going to ask her pulmonologist about this certain ventilator. Maybe I’ll be able to get a good nights sleep, thanks to ChatGPT. lol All in all, I’m a fan. I was a heavy user of ‘deep dive’ Google search 10-15 years ago before the algorithms began only showing results from websites selling products or showing results from established origins. With ChatGPT, the experience is very similar to having that control again. The full power of the internet at your fingertips…. Not the current neutered, profit-driven ‘suggestion’ engine.
