@@florence2095 Hi,the part on the left as I cross over the bus depot has improved. 'Then & Now-The Paddock-Kent'-from 6/10/2024 kzbin.info/www/bejne/rJXQpHRsdtSJn5I @EdBrinton was there,about 2 months ago,I don't think he will be going back lol. The sad truth about Medway,Kent kzbin.info/www/bejne/aGLPXmN8hayXmc0feature=shared If I can get permission to publish all the development plans there,I will film and add them into a video,after winter. I don't (or want to) earn money from KZbin (If I could turn the adverts off I would),I don't see why they would say no. I lived in Chatham and Gillingham for a few years, up until 1987, I am blown away by the changes here, apart from the pentagon centre it's unrecognisable to me.

@xMentalukx Hi,photo/plans here of one development in Chatham High Street. www.youtube.com/@EBR-UK/community Go Outdoors/old Tesco,the building next to it and the old Bingo hall are also being turned into blocks of flats/homes,as is Mountbatten House in the high street. The Pentagon shopping centre,is just about to open a *Medical centre and work from home hubs on the top floor. *The Medical centre in one of my 'Medway Back Streets' vids below is closing down,with plans for a tower block to be built there. kzbin.info/www/bejne/gnurXpWArLGBr80 Gillingham High Street,doesn't seem to be getting the same investment for some reason,I'm guessing,developers are more interested in waterfront properties,on the old docks,like Chatham waters near The strand in Gillingham.

Greetings from Western Australia. Nice to see where I was born literally ,in August 1940 at 153 Chatham High Street. Just see the outside of the room in the video. Perhaps that roo has a lot to answer for. Love you all Michael Cousins

Hi Michael,is this it an old pub ? 'The Little George was situated at 153-155 High Street and is now in retail use' www.closedpubs.co.uk/kent/chatham_littlegeorge.html That area is being redeveloped and I think just the front of the building remains.

Back in my day I had to get the bus home from inside the pentagon. Still remember the dingy, dark exhaust fume/ urine aroma to this day. It looks soooo much nicer today, the lack of cars have transformed the place.

Parts of the high street still smell of urine so no change there 🙂. I think the upstairs in the pentagon is being transformed into work from home hubs and the block along the outside (Mountbatten house?) is being converted to flats with kiosk shops at the bottom.

Well i was born in chatham but not my home town anymore its so different now glad i don't live there anymore.

Thank you 🙏 Chatham high street seems to be thriving, compared to Rochester, Strood and Gillingham. Loved that it’s been made into a Corso and No traffic. I live in Australia 🇦🇺. Last time I was there in early 1990’s when I was visiting 🐨🐨🦘

Hi,Chatham high street seems to be doing okay and is going through a lot of development. Once you leave the high street there is 80 miles of cycle lanes,coastal paths,country parks and islands to ride around and none of the wildlife will kill or eat you like in Australia lol. Strood is also being developed with lots of water front properties planned. Rochester is the tourist part with concerts in the castle grounds and street festivals. Gillingham seems to be ignored for some reason. Is it the same in Australia,with high streets getting closed off to cars and shops/office blocks being converted into flats ?

Live very close to hear, as much as I love it venture further into Chatham and it becomes tragic and scary

I've been there many times for linguistic travels during my youth. It was not a great town as i remember and the bus area was a dangerous place. Especially at night.
