They did the same kind of thing in Seattle...at one time they lowered the higher hills by spraying water from the sound on them to break them down and they also have an "underground" in parts of the downtown. It's kind of fun to find signs of history in towns. Love the walks you take us on.

Pretty cool about those cast iron pillars. I’ve never noticed them! And 100k steps??? Nope. Nope. Nope.

Thanks, David! I always enjoy thinking about underground Chattanooga. I would like to figure out how to go down there someday if it is still open in any area. I think the trees in the median of Broad Street willow Oak. We have some of them at work and I’m thinking about planting one in my backyard.

Thank you for the tree ID. I couldn’t tell at the time and they resemble the pin oaks like my grandmother had in her yard when I was a kid so I defaulted to that.

LOL! very good David. I love Southern Talk- "...just to this side of that sign? On the other side of that sign?.." tone of voice- sentences that sound like a question are not a question. ❤

@@davidsaylors Good because it wasn't in a mean way at all. Sometimes if I'm really sad, I call my sons nurse aide at his gut Dr, (or Miss Lillian) and that lady- she could make the devil smile.. just that sweet, lovely Southern way about her. When we lived in Sprngvle for 6 years, the Southern bama & Georgia gals liked to hear me talk bc my accent is the North Tx/Okie drawl but in my opinion it didn't hold a candle to Southern Talk. People used to say Ok had the nicest people- after we moved to 'Bama I challenged that! I love the way Sothern momas make their boys into gentlemen- beginning at a very young age. Hold the door open for the ladies? You BETTER if Moma is there! 😆

Hey David, great video! And I love your photographing evidence of the buildup of downtown due to the constant flooding from the river. You mentioned the basement of the Sports Barn. I worked for Chattanooga Cable a.k.a. Comcast when it occupied that building. It had a old elevator to access the basement where we stored materials, and I recall seeing the evidence of a tunnel and other artifacts of the original grade before the buildup. It was intersting then, but fascinating now. Love your photos of downtown, especially the video of the ornate structural members on the building being supported by the beams and cables. Please respond what that building is (or was) and its location. Thanks!

I dont know the name of the building but it is addressed as 619 Market St Chattanooga TN. I have not done any digging into the origins of the building so I dont know much about it at this point. It is cool to learn about things from people who saw it first hand. Thank you for sharing that with us. That is so cool. 👍📸

Hi David. Are you tempting this old Belgian guy with all the Nikon/Nikkor wording in the header? Still following and enjoying your channel, just a bit in a slump myself. Following your wise words, I should "get my camera out and go and take some pictures". Take care, thanks for the video! 😊

Nice work David. It seems very strange as to why they raised the level of the streets so much. How do you feel about a trip to the Cat Cafe, apparently they have 30 cats.

Nice video! Interesting, for sure regarding what became of Chestnut St. While watching this, I had a thought that might not be of interest to you, but if I had a KZbin channel, I might consider it. At a certain point after a number of Chattanooga photo walks, the number of people who recognize you should go up. "Oh, there goes David Saylors" could be something you might hear from time to time. But I wonder if it would have a positive effect on your channel to have a tee shirt designed for you to wear on your photo walks. Something simple like "David Saylors Photography" and maybe "See Me On KZbin." Anyway, food for thought - Cheers!
