But what makes it exciting is the fact that marvel might actually take it on, because in the past, they took away Valkyrie’s sexual identity, which was going to be either lesbian or bisexual, I’m not exactly sure which one, but they cut out a scene from ragnarok that showed her having relations with another girl.

Exactly, Kebs!! Being a shapeshifter has its perks, like being gender fluid and pansexual. Of course there's the story of Sleipnir's creation. The only time Loki was a mother. I actually wouldn't say this was "always" Loki in the comics. Or at least being open and fine with it wasn't necessarily a part of rhe comics. Loki always had a sort of "queer" thing going on, but it was always ambigious and tied to his villain status. Even Lady Loki was very much a honey-trap scenario. But, the thing is, Lady Loki was great. And people loved it. It was only with Ikol/Teen Loki that Marvel really embraced Loki being gender-fluid. And it has worked!

I loved that his sexuality was acknowledged in the show and not only that but the way it was fit perfectly and added a lot of depth to his character development. Cus I know one of the biggest complaints was that it had “nothing to do with his character.” A complaint that reeks with a lack of emotional intelligence because it was brought up in a scene that was clearly about Loki’s inability to form serious attachments so it made perfect sense to reveal that he can have sexual attraction to anyone but it’s never been able to be taken farther than that. And that’s a theme that’s been running throughout the entire show. Again, it’s a concept that requires an amount of emotional intelligence that the homophobes clearly lack.

@@the1andonlySM I totally agree with you. Loki is one of my favorite characters in the MCU and I am glad that Marvel made Loki’s gender fluidity canon.

Great job Raffy, I have a feeling you drew some spoilery stuff from Tom here and look forward to seeing how the series plays out.

Great interview! What I love about Tom, as an actor, is the amount of research he does personally into characters and their lives or jobs etc. That really shows when he brings them to life and is what makes him one of my favourite actors! He really puts everything into it! 👏

As a queer Marvel fan, I freaked out when Loki was confirmed bi/pan in the series, and I really really hope Marvel will make Loki canonly genderfluid. Can't wait to see where Loki's character ends up after all this.

Tom Hiddleston is one of my favorite actors. He's so talented and seems like a really nice guy. I'm so glad they're adding Loki's queer identity from mythology into the MCU. Sure my parents get a little homophobic, which kinda sucks, but I see Loki and I get so happy :)

Yes even theologically Loki is fluid both in gender and sexuality. I was glad that the comics acknowledged that and I'm glad in the way the the MCU handled it by not making a big out of it.

Ooooh, so last year for gender conference I wrote about Shakespeare's character, Viola. I could give Loki a go next year. I already started working on putting a masculinity studies lens on Gregor Samsa from the Metamorphosis, but I can dream of writing about Loki and gender fluidity. I think the younger kids would really enjoy a Marvel character.
