@MapleLeafAce5 жыл бұрын
Noah none of which is real advice. It IS a gamble because there’s no true way to anticipate what stocks will do, you are not going to get rich fast. Most people make their money by sitting on a stock for a long time riding out the highs and lows until it hits a level they’re comfy with selling at. And never take out loans to use to trade. If things go bad, you’ll be shit out of luck and you’ll now have debts to pay off.

At the same time if you're successful and earn a lot you can't get euphoria get to you... If you do, you wont succeed.... You also have to understand that strategies are very important.. Sticking to one is important.. but emotion is far more important. Patience... It will take months and months of demo accountw and paper trading... Maybe 1 year...Only then you should trade Real money..when you see consistency in your demo account. Risk management is absolutely crucial... 1%... And Profit loss ratio... Crucial... You will need to risk but the risk needs to be managed. Rule No. 1: Never lose money. Rule No. 2: Don't forget rule No. 1... This is a quote by the greatest investor of this era.. why cant you borrow to invest? Personal finance books tell you that good debt for investing is good. Bad debt is a mortgage or car loan that doesnt make you money. (unless your car is for a business, or your house is going to be rented out.) If some kid sees this, borrows 20k and throws it to the dogs, he deserves to have his credit fucked. Someone who wants to become wealthy and will take the time to learn, should absolutely consider acquiring more capital if he has a strategy that he is ready to test. Everyone who becomes riich in this world, takes on risk and fails at times. Maybe the stock market isnt for you, but dont discourage others. There is a reason you guys commenting will never be rich.

Ryan B I have a little over $80k saved up at 20 years old(super frugal) and completely agree with his comment. Risks are necessary at times, but that is not a risk worth taking. I am not yet prescribed with any meds, though I fear that I am going to get a lot of bad side effects (all the meds come with them, though) because I naturally have an addictive personality, meaning that I tend to get addicted to stuff, such as cigarettes, alcohol, weed , games etc. It's been a tough life to me to handle (lots of depression, anxiety, being asocial), but I need to stay positive as much as I can. :)

I'm a full time stock and more specifically Forex trader and I thought this was a great interview. Regardless of what people think of Umar, the basic points he makes are sound and the questions were newbie enough to give a brief summary of what trading entails. Most traders don't think about 3:1 risk management or understand that a trend takes "pit stops" to "sleep" etc. More than half of trading has to do with emotions even though one spends a lot of time pouring through the why (fundamentals) and then ultimately making the decision of when (technicals). You can doubt yourself at all entry points of a trade, but over time when you have discretionary trading strategies, your confidence grows even if you lose a trade. I've already sent this video to a few friends who are interested in getting into trading. Makes for a good foundation for conversation to build from without me confusing them with too much info.

Saying that "the dollar keeps going down" is an awful way to explain inflation since it more so refers to exchange rates. When you say "the dollar goes down" we assume that you mean that it goes down in comparison to another currency, and that doesn't necessarily happen in inflation, unless that inflation is happening in the U.S. only, and even then it's unlikely other currencies won't be affected.

Petr Novák where did I say you can’t make money gambling? I used to make thousands back in the day when you could play hold em online with anyone being able to read me where it is literally just math. I’m sure super smart guys made algorithms that told them what the best thing to do was simply by the odds. Just like that, the vast majority of stock option trading is done by computers. They just look at math and probability. But beyond everything else there is a huge luck element. You can’t. Deny that. Even if you’re a day reader you can get steamrolled. Hedge fund and giant mutual fund holdings are just dumped into the most stable stocks you can find which right now is Facebook google Amazon where they know that those companies aren’t going to get hit enough to cause them to lose money unless their is a crash like 2008. Sure you can say there is no luck. But that’s with hindsight and an all seeing eye. In the moment not even a supercomputer can account for the outcome of dice being rolled happening thousands of times a second.

5k isn't a lot of money to put into the market, but I would suggest two things: Take some of that money and invest it into yourself - start a business/side hustle that will allow you to build substantial capital because 5k won't get you far in the market. If you do want to invest some of it, start reading about financial concepts and put your money into index funds. In my opinion the easiest introduction to in vesting is the book "The Little Book of Common Sense Investing" by John Bogle. It conveys in a simple way how to succeed in the market over the long term. This book will teach you about indexing and costs that come with investing. If you're really interested in financial markets, start reading and watching material from Ray Dalio, Robert Shiller, Mark Spitznagel, Nassim Taleb, Howard Marks, Daniel Kahneman and Richard Thaler. You'll learn everything you need to know about market cycles, macro markets, portfolio theory, and market psychology by studying these guys. If you're looking for an introductory academic text, pick up "Foundations of Financial Markets and Insitutions" by Fabozzi, Modigliani, and Jones.

BARON- KingX You either don't work, or if you do, your money is being thrown away foolishly. KSA has some extreme wealth, you just have to find a way to get a piece of it!

@@canadude6401 are you telling me about my own country? Less than 5% of the population are wealthy and 20% are average and the rest are poor just like me. Keep in mind that our lives get wasted by studying pure shit that no human will benefit from (I'm talking about 6 to 7 years). And here I am, like most people, 26 years old and just finished my degree + almost no jobs at all .! Life is good my friend.. life is good 😊
