History through storytelling enriches our lives. Thank you for sharing this video. I felt transported through time listening to Geoff's words.

Thank you for sharing about the Osage. It’s such a tragedy we’ve lost so much of their wisdom and traditions. I’m glad for everyone (including natives today) keeping them alive. We must re-learn how to live in harmony with nature and how to be more self sufficient. The most important things in life cannot be bought online.

This content is what makes KZbin worthwhile... My work took me to the Martyrs' Shrine here in Ontario, Canada, and I was able to spend time there learning of the Jesuit missionaries at Ste. Marie Among the Hurons, and of course the tragic outcome experienced by the men who themselves felt fear, knew hunger, suffered loneliness, but somehow forged great friendships among those with whom they sought to leave a legacy of faith. So... to hear Geoff tell the history, by extension, of some of what took place in Ste. Genevieve really helped show the breadth and magnitude of the Jesuit influence. Those men were... I don't like to say "pioneers" but rather, brave explorers who ventured into a dangerous world. I find the architecture of the buildings at that time very relaxing... earthy, and on a human scale we don't see today. Tell your friend he did an excellent job at sharing his knowledge.

Thank you,Mr. Geoff for the telling the story of the English, French, and Spanish communities and their traditions that came to St. Genevieve. That stew part was funny. I really loved the video. I try and portray a French Canadian from the Upcoutry. Ouisconsing (Wi.) in particular. The only comment I have is that that lock really needs some work. I lived in NE France as a kid. Sabots were still being sold in the markets in the "60's. The way the farmers and other outdoors people wore them was to wear a heavy wool sock or an insulated booty. They kept them on by nailing a leather strap over the arch of the foot. I do the same and it really works..

Ah, I have firench traditions as my mother is from France. But, I have modern traditions from France. And we have more when our cousins come to visit. One tradition is Potato Soup. I don't know if you have made it or know of it or it was part of early American series but, it is an easy soup. Potatoes, leek, carrots and celery. You can add or whatever with it or substitute garlic and onions for the leek. After it has cooked you empty the water and mash the contents. Add milk (or if cream then maybe add some water so it is not as rich) and put it back to warm up. Serve and you can put butter on it and some salt and pepper to season. Very good.
