I was a drug addict from 17-23. Started with a traumatic series of events and one cigarette... It snowballed and from 18-21 I was addicted to Methamphetamine until, by sheer dumb luck, everything in my life fell apart. I was forced to rebuild the foundation of my mind. I love that this guy is open about his experience in overcoming that greater evil... A lot of people think they're stuck permanently, but that's a f*cking mindset. I could probably write a book about how the shitty things in my life, became my greatest lessons and those lessons transformed the way I now handle depression, anxiety, laziness and how powerful the body actually is in repairing psychic and physical damage. @brentnicol15866 жыл бұрын
Joe rogaine Xanax withdrawal was horrible, it was worse than alcohol withdrawal for me. I would wake up with cold sweats, then I started having hallucinations and couldn't sleep because my whole body was in pain and constantly thinking someone was there and mind you meth psychosis wasn't helping either with the whole situation. After about 3-4 days I couldn't take it and told my parents about it and went to the hospital which I'm greatful I did because I started having seizures within an hour of getting to the hospital.Meth withdrawal is very mental not so much physical... It was the hardest drug too stop for me! I would constantly sit there and cry for what I've put my family through, it was very emotional once I stopped snorting it. I still hear voices in my head about meth, I constantly think someone is there talking bad about me and sometimes I hear positive thoughts but not very much.

I have a weird addiction: I'm addicted to hearing about and seeing hard core drug use. I'm not kidding. It started when I was 15. They showed me The Dark End of the Street, an old HBO doc about black tar heroin addicts in San Francisco in the 90s. I remember for the rest of that day I felt very strange. I was too young to understand the feelings back then, but now I think they were a mixture of sandness, compassion, morbid fascination, and schadenfreude. I've watched tons of documentaries about drug use since then. I can't get enough. I've seen all of CG Kid's KZbin videos. I'm 34 now. I've never done hard drugs, thank God, but I did have a fairly strong weed addiction in my early 20s. After all these years I've learned that we're all addicted to something. And many of our addictions are deadly and we don't realize it. For example, I know some people that are addicted to salt. They over salt their food. Well, that can kill you. Too much salt will fuck up your body. We all gravitate towards addictions because we all have complexes and spiritual voids , even if we don't realize it.
@ethanknight912811 ай бұрын
I love this breakdown of your thoughts. Your curiosity as an adolescent makes sense to me because at that age in your life, you’re trying to gather an identity and attempting to experience a range of emotions and life choices. This allows you to gain perspective. It’s pretty common to hear about multiple identity shifts as a teen, “it’s not a phase mom” is a frequently used cultural phrase. I like how you step back and reflect on the true meaning of an addiction as well. However I think you lose distinction and overall meaning when you contribute “complexes and spiritual voids” as the main cause of addictions. Consider the chemical reason why someone is addicted to salt. Scientific literature agrees that sodium is chemically addictive, people do not consume excessive amounts of salt due to a lack of spirituality. Additionally, if you are raised in a household where indulgence is demonstrated by your parents, you’re going to indulge similarly without any seconds thoughts unless you are cognizant/mature enough to recognize. I think spirituality (not organized religion) has its merits, but by accepting the statement: ‘addictions are caused by a lack of spirituality’ is to ignore the genuine issue. Addicts become addicts due to a large of web of intertwined reasons; poverty and its effects on the community, over prescribed opiates, lack of drug literacy and general education, etc. To say an addict is an addict because they are not spiritual is to say that their addiction is of entirely their own fault.

YummyPinkLemonade that is a tough situation. If he is addicted to meth and he is abusive then he definitely not the right guy for you. If he really is a good guy but meth is ruining him then I would get help from friends and family and get him to a detox center. If he just isn't a good guy and does meth than leave him or call the cops if you can't

There’s people who get hooked on the first try. I am beyond blessed and protected by God this didn’t happen to me. I was barely 16 at that time. I’m 17 now, but we learn from our mistakes. Past bad experiences will always haunt you but you gotta look forward no matter what.
