It's refreshing to see an influencer choose fostering/adopting instead of buying a dog. I volunteer at an animal shelter and it breaks my heart to see so many wonderful animals without a home. Thank you for saving Delilah.

I just want to say I'm not perfect 😅 We always knew we wanted to foster/adopt the second time around! When we got Stella, we were in a condo with no backyard, and no rescue organization would accept us because we didn't have a backyard so we ended up buying her from a backyard breeder which do we regret now, but it is what it is and I obviously wouldn't change having her for the world. But we knew going forward we wanted to try and save as many dog lives as possible❤️

I love that you're fostering and talking about it because more people need to foster. My partner and I have been fostering cats and dogs for almost two years and it's such a rewarding experience! We just adopted a puppy we we're fostering.

Thank you so much 🥹❤️ I'm not sure if I mentioned in the video but I actually do catalogue my books on Notion I just hadn't updated in about a month or so which is why I ended up buying doubles!! It's super helpful though when I'm going to buy new books and normally pretty good about knowing what I have!!

Love that you're talking about fostering/rescuing/adopting! I hate how many dogs are euthanized. If I could have them all, I would! My dog is not friendly with others, but once he crosses rainbow bridge, I plan to foster! Delilah is a lucky girl and has a warm house for this Christmas

Its a great way to try it out first! I found having 2 way easier than 1 but its been great to not only try it our but open up our home to dogs that need a second chance at life❤️

We have an older dog and ended up fostering a younger puppy as well (like 7ish months old) and he ended up a foster fail… we adopted him and 1 year later I can say it was the best decision. I have so much respect for people who foster it’s definitely a huge commitment while you have the foster but so worth it

If folks are frustrated with their own hair not curling, Carter has naturally textured hair which in my experience makes your hair hold a curl a lot better. I also my curly/wavy hair but a lot of my family has super straight hair.

Yes I said that in the video! Having textured hair makes it alot easier to hold a curl without product but hairspray and texture spray help if you have straighter hair! 🥰

I think it's too soon to say that! Comments like this while they mean well do put a lot of pressure on us to adopt. We really want to take the time and make sure that we're making the best decision for her and not make it from an emotional standpoint. You can't sadly just adopt a dog because you fall in love with them. You need to weigh the pros and cons of having a second dog and whether it's best for your lifestyle. We want to take the responsible approach with this decision. We signed up to be with this rescue organization specifically because we actually get to pretty much decide which home she goes to if it's not ours so we know that we will be making the best decision for her. We wanted to foster to open up our home to dogs who would've sadly been put down otherwise and we can just keep every single foster we get. Well, there's a chance we may keep her. We also know there's a chance we will find her a really great home ❤️

My in law has fostered dogs for about 10 years and has a Bernese mountain dog and she’s the best with the fosters and is perfectly fine when they come and go!

I get it on the advice with dogs. I got my first dog to become a service dog and got both helpful and hurtful advice that was extreme and not needed. I have had to do what was best for Theo and me and that’s all that matters

My dog Willy is a rescue from the SPCA. He has a lot of behaviour issues 😅, pretty severe reactivity towards people and dogs (although it’s gotten a lot less severe with training and $$ for training). But he is a great, affectionate and goofy boy. I don’t regret adopting him at all. If I were to adopt again in the future though, I would foster before adopting.

That's what I'm currently doing because as I showed in the video we have blinds in there! And the blinds definitely keep the brightness out. I just feel like it's kind of sad to work in an office where you have to keep your blinds closed all the time, especially with winter coming in my depression I just need a lot of natural sunlight. So I'm just wondering if there's another spot I can move my desk to so I can enjoy the sunlight as much as possible!

She's still with us! Like I mentioned this video, she'll be with us through the new year and then will decide if we want to put her up for adoption (to allow us to keep fostering other dogs) or keep her!

I totally get that! I didn't like the ending but after listening to the audiobooks and podcast I do have some appreciation for the ending and luckily didn't make me not enjoy the show any less!

Any tips that are working for you with Delilah on separation anxiety would be great. Just adopted close to 3 weeks ago and he runs to the door and cries even if he hears us go to the basement. Working on crate training, though I know he will still cry the whole time (even when he was happy with his Kong before hearing the door). I don't want you to have to open the flood gates of opinions, though. 😊

So honestly, I think working on the crate first is important! We made her that she needs a crate with a safe place for her so we would hang out with her near it feed her near it, and reward her for what you want in it! In terms of separation anxiety, we just started off barricading spots in the house ! So, for example, we would block off the stairs so that I can go work upstairs and she would have to stay downstairs. And yes, at first she would wine but then she slowly realize that she was OK and safe and I was still in the house. Feel free to DM me on Instagram for more tricks though because I think we did a really great job with Stella and she never developed separation anxiety!

My boyfriend and I broke up last year & due to a lot of traumatic events, our dog had to be put down due to not passing the behavior check at the humane society when animal law enforcement came. I wish very much so he was given a chance to be placed into a foster family who could try to work with him before the humane society made that decision. It’s one of the hardest losses. Thank you for everything you’re doing for a sweet pup ❤️❤️

Some rescue organizations need fosters so bad that they will! I know our organization will consider fosters in condos who have grassy areas, not just fenced in backyards!
