The interview I saw with Robert, he asked them 3 hours prior to the main event for Chavez to weigh in because they made his fighter weigh in once they entered the building. Then the promoters and commission kept pressuring them and threatening garcia to just fight. Fast forward 3 hours right before the fight chavez agreed and was over the hydration and wanted them to go directly from the scale to the ring. So I'm thinking it's a mental game they tried to play

It is a complete criminal mockery of the modern weight class system that was supposed to make it easier for fighters to transition between the old weight classes (ostensibly - in reality it was about creating more belts).
