Cope and seethe. But know that your fears are pointless and discriminating. Arthropods have more of a reason to fear us than we do them. People are individually larger and more dangerous than arthropods. In fact, humans are the most dangerous animals on Earth.

God corrects its mistakes through mass extinctions. Killing millions of life forms but leaving just enough of them alive to fill the vacant niches left behind. Invertebrates managed to endure this cleansing for 600 million years. Though many of them did go extinct, the whole of them survived. This tenacity is what makes me respect invertebrates so greatly.

But humans? We're the new kids on the block and are a major threat to this planet if left unchecked. Our bodies may be hot garbage, but we humans are the most technologically advanced animals on the planet. That technology has allowed humans to compensate for our physical weaknesses and has carried humans into being the deadliest animals on Earth.

They were most likely terrified of you and thought of you as a predator. They gassed you in self defiance. Keep in mind that most small animals perceive larger animals as predators. Arthropods are no exception to this rule. They fear us out of a need for self-preservation and the success of their kind. Humans on the other hand have NO reason to fear arthropods.

When people disrespect them or kill them just for existing, my blood boils. I despise people who hate on arthropods and consider what they do to them hate crimes. Though I too am guilty of having arthropod blood on my hands, I hate on myself for killing arthropods. The only time I willingly do it when they're in my territory or if they're going to try sucking my blood so as to avoid getting any diseases. But I'll try and save them when I can buy catching them and releasing them back into the wild.
