It's a garbage cultural practice that has roots in African, Middle Eastern and Asian cultures where a.variety of horrific things happen such as sewing the vaginal opening closed, cutting off the clitoris among other abhorrent things. So, to that effect, there are definitely cultural practices that are fucking stupid and should be fazed out from existence

Agreed. Everyone needs to loosen up a bit; criticising or finding a cultural practice weird or unusual isn't automatically inciting any prejudice or discrimination - putting plates in your lips or neck rings ARE simply strange practices to most of the world, because it is so extreme. But us thinking or saying that is not demeaning the race as a whole. Everyone's cultural norms are on equal footing, I would expect that tribal lady to find our typical body-modifications just as weird, shocking and seemingly pointless, and they're well within their right to say so. Taking a lighter-hearted approach and chuckling about how weird and different we all seem, only shows how fascinatingly diverse our planet is. It is patronising, in my opinion, to treat some races and cultures as though they're made of glass - being offended on behalf of someone doesn't make you morally superior.

The firefighters tho used these for the purpose of ramming closed doors and as protection from falling debris c: Another #FunFact if you need it. Later these spikes got switched by the firebrigades to a longer version thats not as tall as the spikes. They called them literally "brick breaker" at this point

I don't understand the distinction you have made between tradition and fashion. It's tradition for us to wear the cloths we do, pierce or flesh with jewelry in certain places, etc. All of these are cultural practices. If the seperation is do do with a religious foundation, then in a way I understand where you are coming from, but that doesn't remove the fact it should be open to criticism/humor.

Neck.rings don't significantly make those women taller. The rings pushes their traps (trapezius) lower. It does make them taller a bit, because the neck rings keep their neck straight instead of whatever they do when we hunch.
