Dude, you made my day with this video! Please do more DIY’s like this. I want to get the hell ( Phoenix) out of the valley and be your neighbor

Just a thought, your old tub would make a nice raised garden, fill at least 1/2 full with wood and branches.😊

That's what he said he might do with it in the last video .

I had a 300 gallon Rubbermaid stock tank I used for a hot tub in Alaska. They last forever, I used a Chufa to heat the water.

New hot tub installed. That hat is well worn and snazzy Brian I love it. Are you going to use the old tub as a planter. That would be convenient.

Seen a couple of “homesteading” KZbinrs use the same thing for a hot tub, minus the pipes and any of the other snazzy doo-dads. They just set it up on concrete blocks over a fire and started slowly boiling themselves.

@@t04v7 A Fresnel lens focused on the side of the tank would work. Water would be very hot at the end of the day

Brian, why didn't you install the upper through hull in the smooth flat area near the upper lip of the tub? My understanding of convection syphoning leads me to think you would want your hot water outlet unrestricted into the tub, as the lower tube pulls water towards the fire. Meaning don't have the upper outlet under water. If hot steamy water shot at you is the concern, you could run an elbow and turn it away from you and send it horizontally along the inside wall of the tub away from you through a length of tube (say 18" or so) tilted downward but still above the water line to create a slight pull on the water as it exits into the tub. Moving it up the flat area will also gain you some additional inches of separation from the lower tube.

Awesome! Do you keep water in it and if so do you have to add anything like bleach to it to keep the nasties like algae, microbes, bacteria etc. down?

I've found that if I switch out the water once a week and power wash the tub then it stays really clean. I make sure to rinse off before getting in the tub, especially if I've been working outside all day as I don't want to track a bunch of dirt/grime into the tub with me. It's nice right now using it as a cool plunge during these warmer temps!

Will you make a drain for when you drain the water out? It would help keep that area how you want it rather than forming a gully you didn't want. And maybe you could make a little paved area from similar stones for you to get out of the tub onto.

Nice build. Have you tried using a solar panel or two connected directly to a 12 volt DC water heater element placed in the tub? The elements are really cheap.
